In the past more people went to church but it didn't mean they tried to live as followers of Christ. Many paid lip service. You don't want to be scandalised etc... Now, fewer people are socially pressured to go to church but those that do probably think harder about what being a Christian means. I don't think a lot of church goers even in Queen Victoria's time thought very hard about what it was to be a Christian. The idea that chasing money and status is not the path to happiness in God is something that the church could promote today in the face of a society obsessed with attention, money and status. Just look at all the young people desperate to be on social media famous or on TV. Christianity at the beginning had a great emphasis on escaping the world and its torments. The church should push that message again. I would say evensong is a type of service that could be encouraged more across churches.

Louis Perry is simply selling the same old ‘trad’ values that conservatives have been selling throughout history. If they had worked, there would have been no sexual revolution.

I have yet to see a CoE clergyman vigorously preach the gospel. I have heard a lot of multicultural drivel from them!

I love to listen to people who know about history, but, the Church of England should rejoin the Catholic Church. No one accepts that Henry VIII was a great religious reformer. The English reformation was a disaster for this country on many levels, spiritually, socially, ideologically, artistically and architecturally (destruction of art and architecture). The only thing that has benefitted by the English reformation is the mainstream anti christian culture that's currently working day and night to destroy every last trace of Christianity from England and the UK. Why continue in the errors of the past ? Jesus prayed that they may all be one, so that the world might know that he was sent by God the father.

Today's liberal democracy in the West is sadly an ideological facade. Its power now is in corporate capitalism on the one hand and militarised states on the other. A drive for Trinitarian politics is urgently required but there's little sign the Church is able to step up and challenge.

Experiencing the sacred with the right hemisphere--I suggest we have more words for communicating about fully appreciating/comprehending poetry, music, painting, dance etc. I remember listening to a bunch of music conservatory students discussing neapolitan fifths and other arcane items one evening and I said something like "I don't know sny of this technical stuff so I just listen to music and am able to be moved by it. An insightful friend said "You're an English major. You love poetry but you know all sorts of techical things about meter, scansion, etc. Does that knowledge obstruct your appreciation for a poem?" No. It doesn't interfere at all. My right hemisphere can experience something deep, revelatory, moving etc. and my left hemisphere analyze all it wants.

Church of England leadership is all government appointed therefore they are not spiritual leaders but tools in state control and manipulation, just don't expect any spiritual guidance or leadership because it is not there.

In today's echo chamber world that means to explore what is wrong or missing in OUR preferred narratives and what is true in THEIR narratives.
