Wow love this movie. I hope there would be part 2 so we can see how they handle their new life together amidst all the intrigues & eyes on them. The ending was the same in the netflix movie Noels Diary & we are also waiting for the part 2 of that awesome romcom.

Yes, the book has a sad ending. The author made it realistic (and tragic). The movie changed the ending.

I remember watching the 90's Bucaneers tv series 📺 Spoiler Alert It's too much tea 🍵 Spolier Theo is machiavellian. He needed a Beard. Theo deliberately hid the telegram from Nan because his Beard was too charming and how else would he find a likable companion for marriage? Plus, she'd be grateful for the position of Duchess because she is illegitimate, right? So Society will do what it does. Talk behind her back, smiles to her face. Pity a Duke for falling for a wealthy, illegitimate American 🇺🇸 But he's man with a Title. He needs a healthy heir to pass on the Title. He will be forgiven. She will never be forgiven by Society. Nan does her best. But even their first time as husband and wife was SA, imo. The mother-in-law educates Nan on a Duchess's duties. Nan tries to change a couple of paintings in her Duchess room, the mil just orders the servants to put them back in their original spots. Nan and Theo argue a lot. She tries to get on well with her husband. "Husband Theo" is just distant. She finds Theo and an estate servant in his room together in bed. When their marriage breaks down. She is about to have her Duchess portrait done. She runs away. So forget Theo. Ya'll will meet "husband Theo" in Season 2 and he is ^%&%^&*&*%$.

Beautifully done. Flooded me with memories, same age difference, he was very successful. I did have to walk away. Bummer. I don’t watch many movies and never twice. Had to go through accumulated mail from 10 days of travel. First thing that popped up on Amazon so I turned it on, watch the entire movie. Went to bed got up the next day and watched it again And again that night and the next day and then again that night and then the next day. I can’t believe I’m admitting this. It was such a beautiful time in my life, the movie was a perfect copy. I’m 70 now. I’m glad I have that memory.

I didn't have that memory but I did get caught up in their beautifully told screen story. I still look back at various scenes and marvel at what good actors Anne and Nick are, at what committment they make to their craft.
