Are umpires accounts and the accounts of family and friends watched for betting profits? That seems like the next step that media people going crazy about umpiring decisions every week. Everyone working in defence or the government with a security clearance expects their bank acct to be monitored. Perhaps umpires neeed to sign up for that sort of monioring too, in order to get paid for one days work a week.

In the North Melbourne and Collingwood match, there were two throws by Collingwood in the backline that were not paid, a 50 m penalty was not paid, and touch ball was not paid, of course, the umpires changed the result of the game. To say they did not is laughable. The fact is they (Umpires) have made so many mistakes this year and influenced the result. Yeo holding the ball was not holding the ball. Laura Kane is funny. Laura Kane needs better advice and not people who make her look like a fool. The touched ball she said it was inconclusive when everyone could see it on the big screen and everyone on their TV it was only inconclusive to the person who was making judgement on it.

The sooner the rules around the draft are changed, the better. Anything that will make the draft less compromised the better. 20% discounts and accumulating draft points by trading down for junk picks are a joke. The unlimited number of academy picks that can be matched per draft are also totally unfair and should be limited to just one per draft.

The NRL has insurance to cover the payments due to players who are medically retired, which therefore no longer counts against the club's salary cap. That is nice and clean and I can't understand why the much richer AFL hasn't taken out that type of insurance.

10 games so far this season have ended in the wrong team being awarded the 4 points due to umpire blunders in the dying seconds of the game....why is this not being highlighted by commentators and media people. With the ladder positions so close this season this is a major problem that the AFL need to address.

Dusty's 300th was amazing! He's one of those players as an AFL fan you just love to watch. His ability to do things other players can't do, and in big moments has been just incredible. Kicks the first goal (of course) in front of 93,000 fans, the game was played with a finals like atmosphere. I'm a Hawks fan and was rapt to get the win, the first match in about 5 years that had something riding on it. Saw off the early pressure (Tigers were dialed in) and then we just sliced them and diced them.

Clarko said Phillips was fatiguing, what's the point of keeping an ailing tagger on the best player in the AFL when you can bring on a fresh sub? The reason Phillips is a nobody in the AFL and Dacios is at the top of the pile is because their engines are different (never mind skill and impact)

As for the rules and injuries. Bucs you say it is a croc if the AFL are trying to eliminate all head contact. WE ARE ALREADY THERE. The game as it is now is impossible to umpire and impossible to play to the rules because of the dumbest rule changes in all of sport introduced in the last 20 years. The twenty years prior, the AFL tried to encourage running and movement and keep the ball alive. Then some how, imbeciles were put in charge and we end up with "STAND" and two ruckmen standing next to each other in a ruck contest not allowed to jump at each other or the ball. Then there is the stoppages that every has to wait for the umpire to find two guys with their hand up. Possibly the worst of all is the idea that it is up to the opposition to protect your health and safety. It creates a perverse incentive for players to milk free kicks..... The complete opposite to the previous 100+ years of football = protect yourself and go for the ball and the rules will protect you is a thing of the past. This product is unwatchable in most cases compared to the 1990's. It is catastrophic to the games integrity and counterproductive for everyone's health and safety. Current and recent past leadership has failed our game. Media is pathetically complicit and these are greats of the game from it peak. Man up guys and criticise the ineptitude of the current AFL direction.

There is no excuse for blowing a 9 goal lead. This is not a school or a training ground. This is very the top level of elite sport. Man up and do what it takes or you will fail. North failed. Yes, there are many positives and the progress is clear and good. I expect next year will be better and the year after better again but I do not accept softly, softly, good try, everybody wins a prize type mentality and no champions are built that way. The best are forged in the crucible of hard truths of reality = Work harder, overcome whatever is put in front of you and that is where glory is found. Aim for mediocrity and that is the best you will ever do and most will fail at that. Better to aim for glory and at least you will have a chance at it if you are good enough.

North missed out on Reid because they refused to tank now some idiots are accusing them of tanking. You dont get 9 goals up trying to tank only a fool thinks that way and you dont tank against Collingwood. You tank against a team you are expected to beat not a team you are not expected to beat.

There are players that drag teams over the line by sheer will, desperation and determination. Their will to win is insurmountable by their opponent. Bontompelli is not one of them. Regardless of whether he plays well or not, he doesn't have the same level of impact as the absolute best in the game. He is not the barometer for the Dogs. That is really telling and it is a fact that is neglected by the media.

Almost parallelled the Hawthorn Port game, North the better team for nearly all of the match, snatched at the end.

As fans all we want is consistency, umpires need to be professionals and held accountable for their performances. For the AFL and Laura Kane to come out and give the "no 50m penalty for Scott" the OK shows just how out of sync they are with the game.

I believe in altering rules to make a sport safer, but at a certain point there has to be an acceptance of the risks involved in whatever sport you choose to persue, you cannot protect against everything and still keep the essence of the sport. Its like if someone drowns in a swimming race and then deciding to take the water out the pool to prevent drownings. Then its no longer swimming is it?
