Hi great video for promoting Daintree. When was this taken ,I was in Daintree 27 28 29:05:24 the Bloomfield track was not open and the lions den does not look like that anymore.the videos I have of the water line on the pub is frightening not a thing left inside the lion, the main and bottom jaw is gone. The den needs a lot of help.

Thanks mate, this was last year before the floods. Terrible to hear that the Lions den was destroyed. Such an amazing place. I hope they can rebuild it.

48 years ago, Pennefather was a secret place the locals kept to ourselves. Mostly spotless, no flies, turtles nesting and masses of wild orchids. Times change it seems. Kind of glad I can't travel anymore. I feel I would be disappointed if I went back now. Glad you enjoyed it and nice to see the fishing and big lizard aspect hasn't changed. The lizards do seem a little smaller than I remember. Guessing the old bull that used to hang around isn't around anymore.

Thanks for your comment MsZumbah. Yes, unfortunately time are changing and you are not the only one seeing the difference. The affordability and popularity of 4wd equipment combined with more road access, internet and population gets a lot of once secret spots not only over crowded but in many cases closed down. It's great to see young kids doing what we used to do but I guess there is a flip side to everything. Over the years of travelling I found out that the hardest places to get to are still unspoiled. Unfortunately this means to do it on foot or through neck breaking tracks. Sad to hear you can't travel anymore and hope our videos bring back some fond memories of your own adventures.

@@wildworldadventures Thanks for replying! I clicked on a Weipa video that randomly popped up on my feed a couple of weeks ago, thinking,,gee..wonder how my old home town was looking now. Want to guess how many are on my feed now? Lol! And yes, they are bringing back fond memories! Tourists in their shiny 4wd's on an adventure to the tip of the Cape. Towing them out of creeks, warning them not to camp on the edge of the river, watching them hang their towels on the "No swimming, Crocs" signs while they went to cool off, telling them it's not cool to dig up turtle eggs to photograph them, and that nest of eggs up the river is NOT turtle eggs or bird eggs and they should avoid that area...all while getting the "Don't tell me how to have my holiday" look. Good times! Glad I don't live there anymore though. I do regularly miss the fishing! Nothing beats fresh fish, muddie and prawns! Oh and that shark? No idea of it's scientific name..we just called them lure destroyers or bait munchers. In the same basket as catfish and worm infested Trevally (trash) 😁

When were you here? We were supposed to be going here over the school holidays coming up but all the tracks are closed atm from all the wet weather over the past many months. Hoping it will open in time for us. Was planning on doing the Gorrell Track also over the eastern side. Are you guys still living in Airlie Beach? I’m in Mackay and I liked your vid a few months back I watched on the Conway Great walk. We had planned to go do that but I ended up with covid. Will get there eventually. Seems every time I plan a hiking trip the past 12 months something happens and we can’t go!

Hi Heather, this was last year. If it was raining a lot it's better not to go. A lot of the tracks I took in QLD can be very risky during and after heavy Rain. We missed out on so many tracks during our time there due to rain. Better to wait for the weather gods to align go when it's fun. Stay safe! oh.. no we are in WA now but will be back on the next lap around OZ 😀

@@wildworldadventures I’m a far north queelnslander from birth and lived on the Tablelands too, I did a lot of hiking up there but unfortunately never got to these tracks. Fingers crossed the weather continues to be nice for us now we are week out from holidays. Have an amazing time over there, WA is a beautiful place that is also on my bucket list. It's a great spot to camp, the sandflats out the back can be a bit boggy and the roads get washed away often but so much to explore.
