So obvious Dr. Gonzo was heading for that, with all that cult high priest shit but Duke put a stop to it, in his own twisted way. Funny how he deals with all the craziness with craziness throughout the film.

Lucy, and the waitress are all scenes in this film that could've been done without.. The book is such a different tone than the film, the film tries to make it a dark comedy when the book itself was more mystery and psychological drama

I consider it the exact reverse. The book is more of just a darkly funny thing, but the film is somewhat deeper and is more about the book's legacy. The novel itself feels 'speedy' and very assured, whereas the movie 'feels' more like liquor, if that makes any sense. The film is more poignant.
