My best day steelheading was 18 fish hooked, 15 landed. Didn't get started until 1 hour after daybreak (7:30) and ended at 2:30. My largest ever steelhead was 24-26 lbs. caught using a #5 blade weighted spinner in the tailout of a pool. If it wasn't for the stranger who came down to where I was fishing on the river, I wouldn't have a photo of me with that fish.

@@michaeldriedger8564 The 15 for 18 was on one day in mid-March of that year. Strange thing was that I didn't see another fisherman on the river the entire time I was there. Maybe that's why I was able to hook so many fish. The 24 - 26 lbs steelie was on a different day...different year, in fact. Same river, though. I must add, both instances were 20 years ago. As most rivers have, that river has seen a large decline in fish, since.

very cool coho and looked like a great day. Is this the start of the run for you guys? Steelhead are also later for us, friend only got 1 so far. It's the tail end of the Chinook run around the Lake Ontario tribs i fish. Do you ever try for them staging on shore outside the rivers? We had good luck catching kings in the harbor on glow in the dark spoons at night. I will give those big pink worms a try soon especially for steel and where my friend finds a lot of coho.

Great video, I always appreciate it when people show the map and depth chart of where they're fishing. I havent tried checking out some of the deeper spots just outside of major slopes, was mostly fishing the slopes themselves. Have you ever tried paddle tails? like 5-6inch swimbait paddletails on a jighead? They sort of fish like tubes but you can swim them up when you're dropping on a laker you are already marking, they will sometimes chase and you can witness their insane speed to catch up to the jig and feel the hit when you see the mark of the laker connect with the mark of your jig. The paddletails will still get hit while on the bottom too, or when doing subtle lifts from the bottom. Another is some spoons or vertical jigging spoons. Similarly I will reel them up fast but with the spoons like the Kastmaster XL, you constantly jerk and vibrate the rod in your hand by like a few inches. Like 4 flicks per second. All while still reeling in at a consistent speed. The intense wobbling + the speed of it really triggers some insane bites. It's a bit tricky but it's such a joy when they hit that insane movement. Are there any salmon or trout in that lake other than lakers? I will see them cruise at like 30 feet down and sometimes get them to follow or even hit but not much luck catching them.

Thanks for the kind words man. Ya I do use paddle tails they work awesome to I really like the dragon slayers from frostbite. I have used some jigging spoons and had pretty good luck. I haven’t tried the cast master spoon but I’m going have to get a few and give ‘em a try. There is also rainbow trout and Kokanee on Francois and sockeye salmon run through the lake up to the nadina river to the spawning channels on nadina lake I have never heard of anyone really catching them before at least not in the lake

Im in the north-east US, and take trips to NY in the Adirondacks and lake ontario for similar species. I mainly love the Lake Trout fishing on your channel. Would love to see you record and upload more videos. It's cool to watch these videos featuring similar species but from the other side of the continent. Especially the native ones like those steelies and cohos. Those Cohos are stunning. I havent caught many Cohos from Lake Ontario tribs but as Miles said their colors are so red like a firetruck and meaner mouths. The smaller ponds videos with clear water remind me of where i camp and fish in the Adirondacks. That river looks so pleasant to fish, just big enough and plenty of bank/wading spots. Miles seems awesome to fish with, a good co-angler to hype every catch. Hope to see more uploads, good luck this summer
