10 years later and I am still repairing old phones. This was my latest repair the iPhone 4S. Everyone I've mentioned it to, says ahhh easy back-lid removal and easy access to the internals... yeah but wait until you have to do this particular repair - just to fix one of the volume buttons! It's extreme, but I've managed to do it thanks to this video.

Just did this - yes, 9 years later! - and it worked perfectly. Great video and much simpler than some others out there (that tell you to disconnect way more than you need to). Took me about 15 minutes all in, phone now charges! Woo hoo!!
