One thing that's clear now is that Russians will win this war, of course it was obvious Russia was always going to win the long term they simply have more people and guns to throw at it but it's short term has been ruinous at the very least. The failure of the advance and even getting bushed back from Kherson means that nations will no longer fear Russian military, if Russia ever wants to bully nations in the future it can likely no longer rely on threat of military action rather simply military action which can be draining for then to constantly have to fight to expand. As for opportunities for expansion of territory and alliances it's limited I'd argue they can likely go for some irrelevant places like central asia and Mongolia, areas that are kinda irrelevant on the world stage but anywhere in nato or a place people actually care about seems off the table for a while. Basically what I'm trying to say is that they were always going to win in the long term however they will likely get much less territory than they had hoped for and due to the slow advances and loss of some captured territory their soft power on the world stage will have diminished greatly
