omg, I'm slowly starting to regret turning away from after effects. Having to put in so much effort for such an essential, simple thing. I can't understand why something like this doesn't exist as a finished effect.

Great video! I've been using Resolve for about 2 years now after switching over from Adobe for 8 years. Anyways, I'm trying to achieve this same effect in a video I'm doing but I'm very new to fusion. I've watched Casey Faris' video on intro to particles video and yours here. I need some more help even though I'm googling things along the way. I want to make a still non-moving subject disappear into smoke like this. So I feel like there are a lot of nodes you used I probably won't have to... but not sure which ones. How do I get in touch with you?
@videoeditingcentral17 күн бұрын
hi, thank you! actually in your case, it'd be much simpler. instead of using the video footage, you can just replace that with your still image, or non moving subject, the rest of the nodes are the same. so basically everything up until the 4 minute mark doesn't quite apply to you : )
@haurjie17 күн бұрын
I have a similar clip with moving subject/person, followed these exact steps, but it doesn't look like the result

Excellent tutorial. But my problem is that when I import other images and connect to an image plane 3D then to the merge node the picture is also getting effected with point light. When I create another merge node before it then I only get a silhouette of the pic. Is there any way that point light only affects the particle but not the picture?
@videoeditingcentral18 күн бұрын
hi, to be clear, you are building the particles first and then connecting an image to it?

I thought that Compound Clip was just a way to Group elements together as in graphical applications, but it has side effects that make it not equivalent to applying the same application: transitions like Blur Dissolve applied to the Compound Clip will apply to the whole screen, covering it in black even if you only wanted to dissolve two pieces of text. I had to split them back into individual clips, but it made me lose the advantage of moving the whole group by interpolation, I now have to move them one by one.
@videoeditingcentral20 күн бұрын
interesting callout. I tried applying Blur Dissolve to a compound clip and it worked fine. Would you mind explaining your situation a bit more? and also which version of Resolve are you using?
