Thanks for your nice review. Which bookshelf speaker will be good match with Marantz model M1? I would like to pair M1 with B&W 707 S3 bookshelf speakers but I am not sure if that will be appropriate match. What is your opinion about this?

I have the NodeX as streamer only and love it, the quality of sound is really very good running through my Naim amplifier, the Bluesound app is OK but not great and running with Qobuz allows high end hifi

Marantz model is for someone who prefers more traditional brands and/or has extra money to spend. By the way wiim just upgraded its app to include room correction - so far only for apple users but seems android is just a few weeks away. It's available in all their products except the mini.

@@JoseFerreira-zb7wh Guys i am a big fan of WiiM products, i have at home both Amp and Pro + , but you don’t get for what you aren’t paying and side by side M1 is another level in sound quality. About WiiM amp is just fantastic for the price and the app is the best one out there!

@@MadAudiofficial i said "and/ or has extra money to spend" so cost is implied. From what you say in the end i get the wiim is overall the best for what you pay, or did i get it wrong? It's the first you mention when you make your conclusion. I have no doubt the Marantz sounds better than the wiim (i never said otherwise) but it's hard to believe overall, when taking into account also software and features, the marantz is worth almost 3 times what the wiim costs. And i think the pro version will reduce the gap even further. Just my opinion and also somehow based on yours.

@@JoseFerreira-zb7wh from what i know, in the new wiim amp they will improve the DAC section, M1 is offering much more power but is not meaning that you really need it, its depends by the speaker that’s you are going to drive!

@@MrOliver1444 ok now, I didn’t test this combination but box 5 s2 is a neutral speaker and should work well with the M1 despite not having the need for all this power! Take a look also of Musica Fidelity A1, with Box 5 S2 are magic. But is another category of price and setup!

I haven’t had a hifi or stereo for about 15 years and lost my love for music, now trying to find it again. The shop recommended Yamaha N1000A….. THANKS

Bro on bass-heavy scenes in certain horror movies I get distortion (popping sound) on this when i push volume through remote to 90% … as I have set the sub to +6db and foundation to + 2db am I really pushing this sub too hard… Or pls tell me equaliser u used for movies and what db you keep the sub in..i have paired it with ambeo mini, U have soo much knowledge about these things bro ❤😊

I got this unit with BT module. Sensitivity is acceptable with smartphone. However, it works better with some USB-C adapters (CX31993 based is the best bet) A side note: you can plug Boom Pro on the left jack

Fantastic review, as always i have a question, i owned the Wharfedale evo 4.3 and i really love them but the soundstage is a bit narrow for my taste, would be the 5040 a worth upgrade? I understand that the 5040 would have a better soundstage but what about mid and high frequencies? Are they comparable or the evo has better mids, heights, thank you

@@cogitoergosunt560 thank u, I only tested the evo 4.1 and the new 5000 series from q acoustic is definitely an upgrade in technology, if it will be better in your environment you are the only one that can say it!

Is Tidal available on release? I am interested in the M1, and I am sure it is quite a lot better than the WiiM which is a fairly low bar. Looking in to the WiiM I can't put it on any list. If the pro has the same amp, I would be skeptical to any improvements. The M1 though at $1500 CDN must pack a lot considering there are few physical controls/inputs/outputs. Specs look relatively good. I look forward to hearing more about it.

@@MadAudiofficial Thanks. I saw a review for the WiiM that demonstrated it's poor channel separation. I was not impressed with it based on that, although the Texas Instruments amp has great specs otherwise.

I experience the same issue with sound on almost all streaming services. I guess it has to do with the convertion from multi channel audio input to stereo output. Somehow converting Dolby Digital to stereo seems to downgrade the sound quite a lot. So far no solution found.

I’m a big fan of Focal sound. Incredible detail, tonal accuracy and dynamic presence. With their Flax drivers you will experience a touch of warmth to their otherwise lively and engaging sound. Their speakers have good height and width but lacks a bit of depth. That’s why I have Sonus Faber as my secondary speakers because they are the masters of sound stage and imaging. I have Focal Aria 926 and Sonus Faber Lumina V.

i currently own a pair of the sennheiser hd560s also, just wondering if you find yourself reaching for the focal more or the sennheiser and is there something you find the focal headphones deliver that the sennheiser lack? as im contemplating having a pair of closed back headphones to reach for when i dont want sound bleeding from the open back sennheisers. thanks and great review

@@lindsethnittisju797 they are tuned very different, they have nothing in common, depends from your personal taste and your environment. In my i had more fun with the P300, but in a bigger room Heresy could deliver more scale and Dynamic!

amp pro improved SnR and DAC but has the same amp chip. Think the M1 would be better suited for power hungry speakers or larger rooms. Wiim Amp pro would be great for desktop and small rooms.

I've had my Heresy IV speakers for about 8 months and really like them. I'm in the market for a better amp than the one I'm currently using (NAD 2200). It's great that you have a few amps that you can compare. I've been thinking of picking up a Mac 1700 receiver that's at my local record store and seeing what that sounds like with the Heresy's. I enjoyed the video. Thank you!

Soundman Binaural, every time. It sounds like, how the sound sounded. I love sensing a little bit more in one ear compared to the other depending on where my head is aiming at. Stereo is just stereo… great sound system
