I find that without a SR the left arm gets tired fast. Is this normal and something that gets better over time?
@vivolin6521

Yes, your muscles have a bit more work to do without a SR. Just make sure you take enough breaks, as soon as you have built up your muscles your arm won't get tired so quickly.

I want to express my deep gratitude to your for the generous instruction that you provide through your video lessons. I can honestly say that they have greatly enhanced my ability and overall enjoyment of playing. I have taken private lessons from a very experienced and capable teacher for 10 years and made sure and gradual progress but your instruction, particularly the Sevcik opus 3 series, have made a world of difference in my bowing technique. In addition the practice strategies that you impart are invaluable to me. The journey to violin mastery is a long and challenging one and I want to thank you again for your guidance. To be a musician takes a special talent but the ability to teach music effectively takes a different sort of talent that is perhaps even more rare. Both of those talents you definitely possess and you are changing and enhancing lives with them. Brava!

Wow! Thank you for sharing this wonderful and useful video ❤❤❤❤❤. Since I have been working in a university as a lecturer, I was stressed about my work. After a whole day teaching, the only thing I can do is dump to my bed. Everyday I found myself always struggling how to maintain the same amount time as I used to. But just happen one day in a week, I couldn’t do it due to my tired legs. Really a challenging issue to have the balance of the time😢😢😢😢😢😢😢

This is what we all struggle with. It is so hard to find enough time to practice, I have the same difficulties. Try, if you can, to do five minutes. You will feel much better and after a few weeks you will notice that you are improving. And sit down to practice if you are tired. 😊

At min 6.35 you suggest to have a long note at the ends. Why? Can i do the whole bow from extreme frog to every end and back as well?
@vivolin6521
@vivolin6521 Ай бұрын
Yes, sure you can. In repertoire we try to avoid staccato at the extreme frog because it is difficult to get it to sound good and to get it fast but practicing it there is fine.🙂

That is great! Thank you for sharing this. It makes me very happy. If you like you can also practice this with the metronome, 4 notes to a beat and increase the metronome speed bit by bit over time. Staccato teaches so many things at once, that is why I like it so much. Yes, in one way or another I do staccato every session.

That is so nice! The speed is not really important, you can speed it up but only if you don't loose quality. Staccato really teaches bow control and I also find it fun aswell.

Good to have u back. What's the reason one starts with big movement and than smaller onces ( which u did not show in the video). Why not start with small sections and go into big onces?
@vivolin6521
@vivolin6521 2 ай бұрын
Thanks! And thank you for the question! For warming up I have found it more effective to start with large movements to expand the range of motion before going on to the small controlled movements but if you find it better to start with smaller movements that is fine too. It is always best to find out what works best for you.

It is not really necessary to learn etudes by heart. Of course you would benefit from this but you would also benefit from moving on and studying more etudes. I would say, unless you really want to it is not necessary.

Yes, he is right about that but I recommend double stops so early in violin training that they do have to be done with out vibrato at first. Especially fifths. They are hard to vibrate without loosing the intonation!
@lemonprince3626

Is vibrato a requirement before one starts 5th. When one starts fresh should on practice this without vibrato? According to Rodney friend " all intervals practiced should be played using vibrato.. it's is not important and can be even damaging to practice with a sound that cannot be used." This frightens me, one does not want to cause damage. Don't understand what he meant. Thanks for the video
