If this is normal in Anchorage, I don't wanna live there LOL

why are the displays blinking, how can the pilots make sense of the data being shown?
@neilcassey14218 күн бұрын
They just appear to be blinking in the video because the scan rate of the cockpit display and the scan rate of the camera which recorded it are different.

Great video, thanks for sharing! Would you be okay with me featuring this landing in my series Weekly Dose of Aviation? Of course you will be credited both in the video and in the description.

I remember flying into Anchorage in June 1972, Alaska Airlines 737, on my way to Prudhoe Bay, for a 60 day roughnecking job. It hasn't changed much. It was bumpy just like this video, and I am in a window seat looking at the ground, watching the left wing bounce as we come in over the runway. I am guessing we are about 75 ft. high, when a gust hits us and the plane nose flares up, and the wings tilt way right. I then see the left wing tip come all the way back down to almost touch the ground. I mean I am looking right down the wing tip, I am guessing we are at about a minus 30 degree angle, and it couldn't have been more than a few feet from hitting the ground. The wing tip then came back up to level, and the pilot just slammed the plane onto the ground, and within seconds, I feel the reverse thrusters kick in. Everyone on the plane is dead silent, their jaws hitting the ground, as they look at each other. As the plane slows at the end of the runway cheers, laugher, and applause broke out. I am guessing if you fly for Alaska airlines for a year or so, they give you an asterisk on your profile, that means you are a stud muffin pilot. lol

Looks much rougher than it actually is because camara just free hand held, not mounted or steadied in any way.

Now that’s some turbulence! You gotta be an Alaskan bush pilot to handle this kind of fly. I flown Alaska Airlines many times into Alaska and those pilots are so proficient. Not even funny.

Vodka, tequila, gin, white rum: that’s one heck of -cockpit -cloudy-instrument-drink for a pilot

I could not do their job if I were paid a million dollars a minute…anyway, I’d have fainted before even boarding the thing! …I would not have boarded it! Great video (to watch from my armchair) and hats. off to them for landing that horror.

Thank you for your help! My husband and I were struggling with the swing part. Your directions were perfect!!

Hello there, Kelly I am glad that I could help. I will recommend anchoring the legs to a solid hard surface. Otherwise, the set has the tendency to move about, and because the frame is made out of thin hollow tubing, it will twist a little, and damage could occur. Good luck, and enjoy your swing set.

I worked in a hangar at the departure end of that runway. maybe less than 300 yards from those idling f-16s. That noise was crazy and it was usually twice a day every day

Finally an accurate video title! Wondering if Camera was on a gimbal - or were the bumps slightly reverberated thru an arm bouncing? Bumpy no doubt - an excellent job by the flight crew!
