That guy switched his cube at the scrambling table while there was a hiccup, he had a prepared one and switched it, the rest is history. Never forget

Dude in greece registration spots are 75 percent full in less than 15 minutes its really annoying, especially since that theres only a competition in the country every 4-5 months everything else is done very well though and we should always aprecciate the staff, organisers, WCA, donors and even competitors for helping the community stay alive and thriving😄.

For local comps I am signing up for, registration sometimes fills in 30 minutes or less, the most recent one I registered for filled in under 20.

Definitely a good take, but I do want to have a bit of a rant about Tymon not registering for euros. As far as I'm aware, this wasn't because he couldn't register, but because euro's was only 𝟯 𝗗𝗔𝗬𝗦 after NA champs, which imo is terrible planning, having the two biggest events of the year just 3 days from each other. This is what led him (again, as far as I'm aware) to not register as having two massive events in a row, of course can be very tiring (possibly leading to worse performance). This is another big issue that has no clear solution, as getting big venues at the time you want can be difficult, but this is a bit too close to each other.

6:30. Have you seen Polish Championships qualification requirements? It's been on sub-20 for many years now and it's sometimes even full before we get to the last registration period (the one where sub-20s can actually register). EDIT: The hostility towards tiered registration honestly baffles me. We had that stuff for Polish championships for like 5yrs now and it works great. I'm actually surprised that it's only being implemented now worldwide.

The problem of having preset times for qualifications is it requires planners to predict the progression of cubing. Instead using initially very hard qualification times and increasing them by 2% every day would remove this need.

hey guys, middle tier competitor here, i have made top 300 in 2 events (being 6x6 and 7x7 highest being 130 ish) and i think the tiered registration is a great idea, we even had tiered registration for a random regional championship in the middle of the US (rockies) and it went great. I would be super disappointed if i wasn't able to sign up for worlds 2025 because i have been improving really well and am maybe a finals competitor for 6x6 or 7x7. TL;DR, I agree

I agree with this video. Tiered registration is absolutely necessary for big championships so the top cubers can compete and help grow cubing. Also gotta mention one more thing, for continental championships/regional/national championships I think local(people who qualify for title of champion) competitors should be prioritized. And if there is extra space, than they can open it up to everyone at a later time date. In addition, I'd like to see some sort of invite only competition where they invite the top cubers to compete for prize money. Yes I know it might be against, WCA regs, but I think this would absolutely be sick and help grow cubing.

A local-first policy deprives people who do not live in their home country (including myself) as much opportunity in attending large championships
@CewbPianist
@CewbPianist 2 ай бұрын
yeah I understand your concern, to be honest I didn't really think about that. My main point was that lots of people travel to other areas' championships and take spots from local cubers (those who live in the region). Only if there was a way to solve the problem of people who do not live in their home country.

Totally agree, and appreciate you taking the time to make this. The vast majority of competitions are local ones, and inclusivity is a top priority for these (as it should be). Big championships should be about showcasing the top solvers.

This is based, I am registered for euros and I was one of the 16 US cubers at the time. There’s something that needs to be done so high level cubers don’t miss out on big comps
