Parkinson’s “experts” are failing. And yet they’re apprehensive to accept alternate ideas and conduct large clinical trials. Maybe that’s why they’re failing! Disgraceful. My father has Parkinson’s and the specialists are defeatest. Just collect their cheque and do nothing but supportive care as the patients deteriorate. They are failing and the neurology industry in this space that also covers Dementia and alzheimers needs a major overhaul.

Question: my husband was diagnosed with PD in 2021 during his chemotherapy sessions. He had some rare tremors before his whippel surgery and before the chemotherapy sessions but the shaking and the PD symptoms get triggered after the chemotherapy. Is there any relation between chemotherapy and PD? Thank you 🙏

Michael Okun in his 'nosilverbullet' video says that there is no long term benefit in delaying levodopa, quoting the early vs. delayed levodopa study from Italy and the African cohort study. This research found that early initiation of levodopa did not lead to worse outcomes in the long term compared to delayed initiation, impying that levodopa does not accelerate disease progression. This seems to contradict Jonathan's theory doesn't it?

I don't use the Parkinson's drugs. I've had Parkinson's for 14 years. I got to stage 3 and reversed back to almost no symptoms at all. I think he's on the right path,, but hasn't connected all the dots yet. My question is,, if you get rid of the dopamine,, what do you replace it with? And since a lot of the dysfunction of Parkinson's happens also in the mitochondria,, what does lowering dopamine do to help the mitochondria? My guess is,, not much. I would really like to talk with Dr. Jonathan Sackner Bernstien,, maybe compare some notes,, let him know what I have found.

@wadehuffaker9327
@wadehuffaker9327 10 күн бұрын
@@mwswis About four years ago I was starting to rapidly decline,, things were getting worse,, more symptoms started to appear. One of those symptoms was my appetite,, I was hungry all the time. So I researched for appetite suppressants,, found the oldest suppressant,, Nicotine. Did research on pure nicotine,, amazed at all the health benefits and found that it had been studied for use on Parkinson's. Started using nicotine patches,, the results were amazing! Not only did my appetite improve,, a lot of my other symptoms either improved or completely went away. The nicotine patches were expensive and would irritate my skin,, so I switched to using the nicotine pouches you put between your cheek and gum (Product names: Zyn, Velo, On, Lucy, Rogue, ect.) and still occasionally use the patches for muscle tightness. About six months later I started getting a resting tremor in my left hand. Did more research. Started taking low dose Methylene Blue. Haven't had a tremor since. I also (carefully) use Glutathione,, high dose vitamin B1 and other various supplements and I'm also on the carnivore diet.

Metyrosine was first approved for use in the United States in 1979. It is also sold under the brand name Demser, which comes in 250 mg capsules for oral administration. However, metyrosine can have adverse effects, including making Parkinson's disease worse. It can also increase the effects of liver disease because the body removes it more slowly. For this reason, it is important to take metyrosine only as directed by a doctor.

Please remember, almost all leading Parkinson’s treatment centres/ hospitals, get large grants and research budgets each year to continue research work and expand their presence across more cities and countries etc, to treat growing numbers of patients… Many or some of these grants and sponsorship of events and other financial help comes from big pharma, that is manufacturing drugs they prescribe. So all the hospitals that pride themselves as centres of excellence for Parkinson’s treatment, are running along a set path, where dopamine or dopamine agonists are the only go-to medications for now, so they will naturally not support any new contrary medication or research, unless it is by a big pharma name.

I was diagnosed PD on February 2024 by DATSCAN®. My question is: if Dopamine levels are too high in the brain of PD patients, why my DATSCAN® shows low levels of Dopamine in my Caudate and Putamen? Thank you!
@jonathansackner-bernstein
@jonathansackner-bernstein 24 күн бұрын
DATSCANs cannot see what is happening at the level of individual cells. So while it is true that the total amount of dopamine in your brain tissue is low, the amount inside the individual cells of interest is very high. Think of it this way; if you looked at wealth for a prosperous city, it would be very high. But that doesn't mean that there are not a lot of people in such a city who are struggling financially. Understanding the resolution possible with a measurement is important.

Dr. Sackner-Bernstein tells us that Parkinson's patients can tolerate a reduction in dopamine, so long as it is gradual. But a gradual decline in dopamine levels is what brings on Parkinson's motor symptoms in the first place, and that is so intolerable that PD patients used to live only a few years before the invention of levodopa therapy. So this claim that a gradual downward adjustment is tolerable, is not credible. The doctor's presentation also seems to imply that if we reduce the toxicity caused by dopamine buildup in the cytosol of dopamine neurons, this will halt or reverse progression. But progression is largely due to auto-inflammatory activity involving innate immune calls called microglia that are triggered to attack by Damage Associated Molecular Patterns (DAMPs), including neuromelanin and aggregated alpha-synuclein, that are dumped into the inter-cellular space when neurons die. Lowering cytosolic dopamine levels will not help with that inflammatory feedback loop and thus will not slow or halt progression. The doctors who told this doctor that his approach will hurt Parkinson's patients are, IMO, correct.
@jonathansackner-bernstein
@jonathansackner-bernstein 22 күн бұрын
Published in the Journal of Parkinson's Disease in 2021, I share data showing that while the brain has low dopamine, the spot where dopamine can either function or be toxic - the amount inside the dopaminergic neurons (brain cells controlling movement) is markedly elevated in parkinson's. And in experimental models, reducing that elevated level inside the brain cells results in reversal of disease pathology. Now we need to show whether that benefit also happens in people. The data say this approach is credible and plausible.
