As someone who used to camp and fish in northern Michigan, this video brings back so many fond memories. The connection to places like Munising and Manistee is strong, and it's wonderful to see these areas being appreciated and enjoyed by others

Now time to conquer the Manistee's sister river, the Au Sable. Lake Huron beckons!

Use too camp on the banks of the Manistee river years ago before the state decided to block off the access areas. Also use to fish brookies on some of the streams up untill a few years ago when got into a argument with a city slicker on who owns the water. Prick fenced off the stream i fished for 20 years with my dad.

Hey, I think your videos are awesome. I just wanted to say , And make sure you're aware. Some human food for your dog can really hurt their kidneys. The salt content in foods like Bacon, And especially jerky.

My dad made salmon loaf very similar to your paddies. He would make a loaf like meat loaf and bake it in a preheated oven for twenty minutes. I still remember how good it was.

I was born and raised in Grand Marais, I didn’t know what I had as a kid until I moved away after college. My friends and I fished every day when we were kids. I’ll be retiring soon and plan on fishing the big steelhead in Superior, AGAIN!!!

You don't see many of those Yozuri lures. I love the little snap beans perch it's like an inch long, you can't find anything else in that size and style and it works great for perch.

Good stuff! Looks like a fun trip with a great paddling partner. Man - your canoe takes a beating! My 14.5 foot wood/canvas canoe can't take that sort of treatment, so I'd be carrying it over those portages. But good on you for taking on this adventure. The UP is amazing country.

It's SO exciting to float onto lake Michigan and round that pier point! I did greenville to grand haven in 3 days and rounding that pier was a tear jerker!

One question: HOW do you still have venison steaks not getting bad after 6 days on the island? Can you buy ice somewhere? Is it cool enough Temps to notnworry about it? Keeping them in a bag in the cold water??
@AdventureChasing4 күн бұрын
I have a small grizzly cooler that keeps ice for about 3 days. The water temp on superior was around 40F so I was able to use that to keep things chilled.

After failing to secure a campsite at the Platte River campground, I was able to access one at the Betsie River Campground. I hadn’t been to Frankfort in over 30 years and a lot has changed over that time. This wouldn’t have been Betsie lake would it? I’ll be there and the Platte over a weeks time.
