what is the use of the floating parts that come in the box?

Great video, unfortunately it seems all Thermoplastic filters develop leaks within a few years, Hayward is no different. Also seems to be more prevalent on systems with large 2 hp pumps, some systems with 3/4-1hp super pumps make it 10 years or more. Fiberglass is definitely better but with a much higher cost few people choose that option. We're moving from Hayward to Pentair because of so many quality control issues the past few years, hoping Pentair is a least a little better. We had several filters and multiports leak on brand new installs, even had a standpipe inside an S244T not glued on the bottom (all the sand wound up in the customers pool after the first time they backwashed). The list goes on, I believe Pentair is the only product still made in the US.
@valmiles2 күн бұрын
I'm using a RaspberryPi and software I developed to monitor and control my Pentair system /EasyTouch from a phone, PC, iPad. Spent probably about $120 in parts to make this happen. Not only it works great, but I have custom automation (macros) that can run circuits in sequence for a specific time. One button pool schedule change from Summer to Winter schedule, etc. Also capture telemetry to detect possible pump, IC, Mastertemp issues before/as they start.
@SwimmingintheDeep2 күн бұрын
That's cool. Does it provide two-way feedback? Like does it confirm that something's running at the time that it's on? Hooked into doing this but instead decided just to fix my board, I now use my old screenlogic system with the intended automation that pentair gives. I had to get a hot air workstation and replace the comm chip but it now works flawlessly again with two-way feedback. Your system would make for an excellent KZfaq video if someone's not already done it. I would watch it.
@valmiles2 күн бұрын
@@SwimmingintheDeep, yes, I designed it to display circuit status as unconfirmed in different color. As soon as the SW sees EasyTouch status message confirming it was turned on or off, the color changes. This typically takes about 10s. Good point, I should probably make a video of the UI.

I installed it about a month ago, and it was working great. until right now my indoor panel stopped communicating with the board. I suspect the problem might be caused by the COM port that I connected the box to use the power so, keep in mind if you can find a better way to power it.
@SwimmingintheDeep6 күн бұрын
If it stops working also check to make sure that the system did not disable the spa side remote. If it gets conflicting information, it will disable the spa side remote, and you have to go into the system and turn it back on.
@shoutout58405 күн бұрын
@@SwimmingintheDeep thanks for the reply, the spa side I set it up is working fine. the panel inside stopped working so it's either the panel itself or the com port on the board outside. I'm getting a new board in a week I'll keep you posted. it might just be a coincidence but because of that is the only thing that was added to the system and drew the power from the com port. so I would suggest to be safe by using the power from another source

What I did is buy a Powerline adapter which basically boosted my network connectivity to the far side of the house (basically it is now wired but over power line) and I got over 100Mbps to that side of the house which is aplenty for my needs. And I'll be doing exactly what's in this video. Simply hardwire the unit it and connect it to a wifi extender which will will simply talk to the Powerline wifi and that's that.

Seems like a great idea on paper but does not work. We have, like most people, a skimmer basket under a plate to hook up the vacuumed hose. By looping the wire over the top like you did the plate will not securely fasten. This causes the vacuum to not get full power.

So when my PUMP shuts off (it is on a timer) - then the FLOW light just goes RED - just like it does when I turn the PUMP off when I backwash or RINSE.. So are you sawing the electricity should shut off COMPLETELY?
@SwimmingintheDeepАй бұрын
Yes, if it were wired correctly, it would only be able to come on (and lights seen on the chlorinator itself) when your pump is on. In short, your transformer for your chlorinator in your box area should be wired to the same pump timer.... on the "out" side. That ensures no power goes to your chlorinator unless the pump is on. I am not sure if the way it is currently wired will damage the chlorinator, I think it would work...but not be the correct way. Your flow sensor is likely serving to protect it by not allowing the plates in the chlorinator to be actually "on."
@laurat9052Ай бұрын

@@laurat9052 how old is your cell? If it's 5 or more years it likely needs to be replaced. If it's less than that you can try cleaning your cell with hydrochloric acid. You should be careful if you do that and there are instructions on how to do that on KZfaq.

Terrible explanation. How does any of the math work if you dont even know how far out your stairs are going to go. The angle of the stairs. You are either missing something or skipping over the hardest part.
@SwimmingintheDeepАй бұрын
Hey I'm sorry you found my explanation terrible. I understand your frustration because it took me a long time for it to click. I suggest you get some cardboard and work it out. On these bottom stairs my overall additive run and where it landed was not that important. You may notice that I also poured some additional concrete for where it landed. Local code made a dictate how long your run needs to be but there's also a range. If your distance out is very important in your project, I suggest measuring that distance. You may have to use a plumb line hanging off of your landing to determine your overall additive run. Now divide that by your run of 10.5 in" (or somewhere in the range of code) and that will help you determine how many stairs that you have. It may still be very helpful to use cardboard for you go to cutting of your expensive piece of wood. This technique will allow you to adjust your own per stair run for it to work out. Good luck. I'm not an expert at this but thought I could be helpful and thought my video could be helpful. I apologize if you found it frustrating.

@renate19861958 That's true, the lights on your chlorinator should give a pretty good indication. You can also use some test strips that are made of paper to test the salt level. It's very common after the winter that your salt is very low because rain and draining your pool will naturally lower the level of salt. For my pool, I have to add about two to three bags of salt after the winter is over. Also the chlorinator will not read an accurate reading until the temperature of your pool gets well into the '60s. Therefore, if your pool is not in the upper '60s Fahrenheit, or higher, be careful not to add too much salt.

It was so deformed I'm not sure this rope trick would work. So I took the wheel off and put it in the oven at 200-250deg F until the tire became pliable and rebound to the rim on its own. Before inflating it I put undiluted Dawn dish liquid all around the bead. Since adding the Dawn it's never gone flat again. That stuff sticks and seals really well! We're now over a year with no flat tire! Anyway next time I have a flat on my rider I know how to fix it quick and easy thanks to your rope trick!
