Future predictions on bitcoin based on macro are complex to say the least. On one side, the likelihood of continued deficit spending and QE, and monetary debasement makes it seem obvious bitcoin will continue it's run. But the downsides are pretty clear too. Bitcoin has really only ever been rescued from crashes by a series of market interventions in a time where the fed and us government had tools they could use without a risk of inflation and the bond market, unlike now. It also was a time of minimal market buy in, such that those invested were almost religious fanatics in bitcoins success, as opposed to regular market participants. It also is now far more expensive, such that new participants, short of a hyperinflationary world, will not become insanely wealthy, but simply not poor, like a gold hedge. Furthermore, its genuine independence is increasingly under risk by government involvement. Investment by major corporations isnt solely beneficial, its hugely risky. Just as its acceptance could help bitcoin through corporate assistance, it could see mass selling to rebuy later far more easily, or make it easier to regulate when a real downturn occurs, as well as justifying government backed digital currencies. Lastly, the idea bitcoin is fundamentally a hedge against government control, like gold, is clearly false. Gold generally is stable, and bitcoin simply isnt. Its like a highly leveraged nasdaq index. And unlike physical gold, which you could theoretically bury or hide when shit hits the fan, or the government bans it, bitcoin really would hit zero in that scenario. Bitcoin seems like its the sort of investment which works in an easy money environment where the easy money has few short term side effects. Its very possible that period has been exhausted.

I would have liked to have seen analysis including the regulatory risks around cryptocurrency assets. I think there is a risk that governments will move to limit the use of these currencies on the ground of anti money laundering and counter terrorism funding, and possibly as a way of strengthening their own currency. Cryptocurrencies inherently do not have a controlling authority, so the usual rules around governments artificially manipulating currency use within their jurisdiction that they are not sovereign over does not have the potential retaliation downsides.

Bitcoin sequesters the inflationary failure of fiat around the world. BTC rise in price is not necissarily a good thing. But people are too foolish to see the signs.

I just want to say, as a web developer, crypto enthusiast, privacy advocate and decentralist, cryptocurrency was never meant to be a speculative asset class. No one ever read Satoshi Nakamoto's white paper on crypto (Google it and its on Bitcoin's website); sadly, economic desperation of the working class in concert with greedy crypto developers turned crypto into a speculation asset, and pushed it right back into centralized financial powers - completely opposite of its original intent; now, miners are beholden to profits and Wall Street and big financial institutions now act as Trusted 3rd parties with their ETF's. I know this is not a popular truth because we tech geeks are making money off it (well, not me as I knew it was going to be ruined) with speculation and the bleed over into the semiconductor industry that support mining via hardware sales. As an idealist, I hate seeing crypto diverge so greatly from what its true intent was - freedom. But every new technology has to go through several iterations before its full potential is truly understood and realized.
