Hi Mike - wait 40 years and then take a look at your modern riffs. They will look cheesy to (If anyone even remember them ;-) And thanks for the video and the tab
@MikesMusicMethod19 сағат бұрын
haha. Point taken. But at the same time...I can name tons of 40 year old songs that aren't cheesy. ;)

I'm sure it's easy to do with long fingers, my small hand struggles to do that
@MikesMusicMethod4 күн бұрын
I think with time you'll get it. I'm only 5'7, so it's not like i'm a giant. If with time you're still seriously struggling with this adn basic chords, then get a 3/4 size guitar. Or Martin makes a fantastic kids guitar! Also the cheap (150 buck) yamaha Jr. I mean, it's ridiculously small but if it works it works! I bring that one everywhere when i teach in person cause it's easy to carry around and I dont care how badly it gets banged up.

How does one transpose solos..e.g. play hotel california solos in Em scale instead of the original Bm?
@MikesMusicMethod9 күн бұрын
Same way. B to E is a P4, or 5 frets. Just move the solo up 5 frets. If that's not possible you have to think a bit more and strange the strrings it's played on. Make sense?

I did the last class and have to say, after going through classes at my local college, this class taught me even more things that I had never learned. I highly recommend Mikes classes! Supported with lesson sheets, videos, links and Mike who is an awesome instructor! I would agree, that no matter what level you’re at, you will grow with these classes!

Thank you so much for this Mike. I tried to get it from Chris Smithers teaching it but he goes through it to fast for my slow brain! Your highly detailed, bar by bar analysis is exactly what I what I need. After 6 days, I’ve got the first 8 bars solid at about half (?quarter!) speed and I actually think I can get it. I can’t thank you enough . I’ve subscribed to your site. Regards.

Do you have an editor for your videos? if yes , than use him/her. If not then get one asap
@MikesMusicMethod18 күн бұрын
I love thoughtful feedback. But this one felt like more of a troll. I don't know you. Any reason I should heed your advice? Do you run a popular YT channel? But in case you're inquiring for real and not just trolling, there are two issues. 1. they'd probably suck out the life and banter. Most people are subbed here because it's not just a dry video, but there is a real personality teaching them the songs. If you're annoyed simply hit the button and jump ahead 10 or 30 seconds, or use the timestamps. That's incredibly easy, saves me huge editing costs, and allows me to keep thousands of hours of my labor for these educational videos available FOR FREE! 2. who's going to pay this editor? Just because I have 20k subs on youtube doesnt mean I'm cashing in. I'm just getting to the point where I feel like I'm paying myself an almost fair wage. Paying an editor would probably put me in the hole, which would then lead me to needing to paywall my tabs, in which case, I'm sure you'd complain about that. ;)
@Yarivperelmuter18 күн бұрын
No you don't know me and I'm not that influential here on YT or any other platform for that matter. I am though , a guitar teacher myself, and despite teaching on YT , I come here to learn from others. I did come across this video and did my best to learn from you. This is my feedback : Cut out all the parts you are in tuition flow but suddenly digress cause you want to crack a joke or remark about something unrelated; I'm sure this will make the video more tight and consistent instead of showing a part and then going on about this or that, cause that is disruptive and kills the flow ( You probably don't realise what a person with ADD is going through when trying to gain concentration in order to internalise what they learn) My point is- this video could have done without the bits that go forever and disrupt the flow of the tuition. That's not to say you are bad teacher ,just a bit all over the place . Some people might appreciate your style well good for them , but this doesn't work for everybody maybe.

Sorry , despite NOT teaching on YT . And thank you for you elaborate and thoughtful answer

I can tell this one will take me a while, thanks for making it possible!
@MikesMusicMethod18 күн бұрын
it's ridiculously complicated. My approach would be to just think of each measure in and of itself as a month long study. If you take that approach you'll get immense value from it. But if you try and think you'll get the song you might burn out and waste time.
