When I turn on my fan the lift motor just spins but does not open the cover and it will not open when you turn it manually either. So I don't know if my fan is good or not. Do you think I should try replacing the lift motor?
@wanderingdillos
@wanderingdillos 12 күн бұрын
If you have an older style lift motor it has a clutch built in to disengage the motor from the lift mechanism. If you pull down on the knob it will disengage the clutch, pushing it up will engage the motor. So I would start by pushing up on the knob (you may have to wiggle it a bit.) If this doesn't work the gears may be stripped out in lift motor assembly. Another thing to check is that the lift arm hasn't somehow come loose. If the arm isn't connected properly the cover will not open by motor or manually. Hope this helps your trouble shooting! Good luck!

I have had good luck with PB Blaster to loosen stuck fittings. Of course, you will want to rinse it out really well. I don’t know what the magic ingredient is, but I’m certain it is not good for you. If you can get it to budge, keep working it back and forth, slowly working it loose.

Mine keeps beeping. What’s going on?
@wanderingdillos
@wanderingdillos Ай бұрын
I've not had that issue, but a couple things come to mind. Depending on your sound settings there is a mode where it will continue to beep if there is an unread message. If you are creating a track is can also be set to beep every time it takes a GPS location. And it may also beep if it looses and can't reacquire a satellite signal. If you can't get it sorted out I would suggest contacting Garmin tech support. They have been very helpful in the past. Good luck!

I think it’s important to note when reinstalling the new temperature and pressure (T&P) valve, you need to outflow tape or some type of thread sealant first. I don’t believe this was mentioned. otherwise good video.

Thank you for the feedback! Yes, teflon tape or pipe dope is important to avoid leaks and to prevent the valve from getting seized in place making the future you very sad. In our case we used a couple wraps of teflon tape - which we did not show in the video. Good catch!

Very nice story and video!! I had never heard of the Rim, except for the South Rim in BIBE and the North/South Rim of the Grand Canyon! Shows how limited my knowledge of the United States is. My geography teacher in high school would give me an F if they were reading this. LOL.
@wanderingdillos
@wanderingdillos 3 ай бұрын
I think your teacher would give you a pass! I'd be willing to bet they had never heard of it either. To be fair, Grand Canyon gets 5 million visitors each year; BBNP about 600,000; and I would bet where we were sees a few thousand - most of them hunters! Pretty remote.

Are the State Park roads similar to the National park roads? Have been all over the National Park, Black Gap, and Old Ore. Are these similar to that? We will be out there in a stock Tundra, had no issues on the National Park roads.
@wanderingdillos
@wanderingdillos 4 ай бұрын
You shouldn't have any trouble in your Tundra. The roads/trails at the State Park vary greatly, but with the exception of a few "unmaintained" trails none are much more difficult than Black Gap in the National Park. Take your time and you'll do fine. I would suggest checking in at the Sauceda Ranger station to chat with the Rangers and get an update on road conditions. They can tell you if there are any washouts or other issues. They can also direct you toward cool things to see/do. We've made many trips out there, and have only explored a small portion of what is available. Have a great trip!

Use the Montana 700i and an older iexplorer inreach at the moment for myself and boys when going way off trail in the mountains. Love the peace of mind it gives us and the ability using Garmin online site for my wife to follow our movements while in the back country. However, the number one thing I dig is the fact that if one of us has to push the button we dont get the entire rescue bill which depending on location and country could be rough. Usually pay for unlimited texts to avoid that charge and deactivate after each trip. Pretty cool that newer are starting to have sos features but insurance plans need to be an option for it to be comparable in value.
@wanderingdillos
@wanderingdillos 5 ай бұрын
Indeed, the piece of mind is definitely worth the cost! And Garmin does offer SAR insurance to cover and search and recovery expense, which as you mention, can potentially be very expensive depending on the circumstances. I think the Garmin coverage starts at around $40 a year. But like all insurance products, folks need to read the fine print to sure exactly what is covered and if there are any exclusions.

Thanks! Hope the repair goes smoothly! One thing to watch will be the polarity when you wire it up. For ours we had to wire it up "backwards" to make it work correctly. Your setup may be different. You will know right away. If open/close is backwards, just switch the wires and it will work correctly. Good luck!

Wow. Love this video Carson. I feel like I was actually there. What is the typical driving speed on those backroads? I am guessing maybe 15-20 mph and perhaps a bit higher at other areas?
@wanderingdillos
@wanderingdillos 5 ай бұрын
Thanks, David! The speed varies significantly with the road conditions. In the sandy straight sections you can do 15 mph comfortably. In the rocky sections you might be going at a walking speed. We averaged 5 - 7 mph on the trail in this video. Any time we got rolling “too fast” a washout or big rock would jump out of the shadows and remind us to slow down and enjoy the scenery. 😂
@abrahamlopez4864
@abrahamlopez4864 5 ай бұрын
its 25mph through the main camp road to sauceda ranger station. From the station its 15mph, for most of the trails to your campsite id go 5-10 mph. edit: Use better judgement. I love this park, the road to pila de los muchachos was very technical and challenging in my stock 23 frontier

No anode rod needed since it’s an aluminum tank.
@wanderingdillos
@wanderingdillos 6 ай бұрын
You are correct. As shown in the video, this Atwood water heater does not require an anode rod. It just has a plastic drain plug. Other water heaters do require an anode rod to prevent corrosion of the tank. We suggest owners consult the manual for their specific unit to see if an anode rod is required as part of their routine maintenance.

I have the exact same model and my girlfriend broke the handle the 2nd time she was using it. But there is some sort of locking mechanism that keeps the door from being opened when it's going through a cycle, and according to my girlfriend, the door would not open at the end of a cycle. She called tech support and all of their suggestions to get the machine to unlock didn't work. She wound up using a long piece of very strong nylon string to get behind the door and pull the latch manually which did get the door open. We were able to order the same handle kit you got, from the manufacturer, except we only paid $40 plus shipping. The cost of a complete door was $200 with shipping.............. I have a feeling I'm going to find the same type of stress fractures and or broken parts when I get the door apart. I also have a feeling we'll be ordering a new door when all is said and done............ But thanks for this video. It gave me some tips on things to have on hand, like the epoxy and gel super glue................
