@discankan 1 minute ago At 07:20 you say competition collars also fit. Sure about that? Looks tight. Might otherwise be the difference between the training rack and the warm up rack (though odd that would be with two racks with such a minimal difference)?

Hello @discankan Axel here from TheRack.Co. When considering diameter, the Eleiko IWF Training Barbell Collars should indeed fit, though the video mentions that the storage posts are slightly short to fully accommodate them. Nonetheless, they will still fit onto the storage posts.

@@therackdotcoph Thanks, however the question was not about the Eleiko training collars but about the Eleiko competition collars. They are two different collar models. It would be great if you could try to put a pair of competition collar on the training rack's storage posts to see if they really fit.

Because I'm comparing the noise that different barbells make when dropped due to the sleeve construction, brand, etc. What I'm trying to compare is the noise the sleeve makes when dropped between bars with bearings vs brass/bronze bushings, vs composite bushings. My current bar had metal bushings and the tolerance is kinda loose so it makes a loud metal clanging sound every time the bar is set down on the floor (from deadlifts for example). From what I can tell bars with needle bearings have less play or movement in the sleeve and make less noise. So an Eleiko weightlifting competition or training bar with bearings should be more quiet than the XF bar. @@therackdotcoph

@@mjp8415 apologies for the super late revert. Though good point. We will see within the week with all our other bars from differing manufacturers Eleiko, REP, Rogue. What I did notice from continues use of the Eleiko SVR WL Platform is that when used with the new Eleiko IWF WL Training Plates, the bar+plate set-up tends to bounce more. When used with the Eleiko Sport Training Plates, they bounce less. Will message again here once we're done our tests!

@@therackdotcoph sounds good. I can give you an update on I what I have found now that most of my home gym has arrived and I have tested out different barbells. What I have found is that barbells with needle bearings tend to be much more quiet when deadlifting or when dropping them compared to bushings. Even the barbells that are marketed as having very quiet composite bushings are not nearly as quiet as the needle bearing barbells I have tested.

Hi Jasper! Really sorry for the delayed response. The inside diameter of each Fat Gripz is 1.1in / 27mm. Which means it may not be a a good fit for a 25mm bar. If it helps, I've encountered a similar issue before wherein I didn't have the right bar collars (made for 2in bar diameter sleeves) for a specialty bar with only 1.9in bar diameter sleeves (weird I know O_O). For it to work, I folded paper and inserted it between the 1.9in diameter bar sleeves and the bar collars, and it worked well. BUT, not sure if it will work as well or as easy as when used for a 25mm bar shaft and the Fat Gripz. Thanks for that question as I may have to revisit this detail in a future Fat Gripz review.

Excellent presentation. However, you did not mention THE reason why Eleiko barbells are quality: the quality/purity of Swedish iron-ore which is the raw material for making steel. There is no better steel in the world, thus these are generally the best barbells in the world, though Uesaka is also on par. BTW, what do you think of the Eleiko Rack Bar?
@therackdotcoph
@therackdotcoph 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for commenting Keyser! Actually your the first that ever interacted and don't mind if I screenshot it lol Also, appreciate the insight on the Swedish iron-ore quality. It's the first time we actually researched about that claim of Eleiko, which apparently is true given that Sweden is Europe's biggest iron-ore producer, and is really known for purity. Also, glad to learn more about how Sweden's iron industry is actually connected with WW2. All so interesting so yeah, super thank you for that insight! As for Uesaka, we unfortunately have never had any experience with their products. Really interested to see how they match up with Eleiko, as having had a lot of experience with a few US brands, seems like Eleiko really is a level above in terms of quality, finish and balance. Regarding the Eleiko Rack Bar (ERB), unfortunately we've had no experience with it yet. So far, it's the Eleiko XF, Hybrid, Performance Weightlifting & Powerlifting, IPF Powerlifting Competition, IWF Weightlifting Training Bars that we've been able to use. Though from specs of the Eleiko Rack Bar, it seems very similar with the Eleiko Performance Powerlifting Bar (EPPB), except for the 1.2 knurling of the ERB vs 1.5 for the EPPB, the obvious absence of knurling on the j-cups area, and slight difference in flange widths. Both however are 29mm, and with graphite-infused bushings, which I feel makes the lifting experience very similar. Just another note I haven't mentioned in the video, the spin quality of Eleiko bars are 👌 Whether bushings for the Powerlifting-centric bars, the mix of bushing and bearing for the multipurpose bars, or bearings for the weightlifting bars, Eleiko sleeves spin together with how exact the sleeves are on the shafts are soooo on point.

@@therackdotcoph Thanx for your informative reply. How do you like the Eleiko Hybrid Bar? How corrosion resistant is it? I understand it’s not made anymore. Eleiko told me it’s being replaced by “something more exciting;” hummm, stainless steel perhaps and finally? Two more historical Swedish iron ore facts. 1.) Swedish iron ore was used to make the famous Ulfberht swords that the Vikings used. It was THE sword to have as it would shatter other swords. You did not want to go into battle without one. 2.) In WW2, the Swedes kept the Nazis at bay by supplying them with Swedish iron ore. Sad, but the Swedes did have to make a “deal with the Devil” so as to prevent invasion. It’s still a shame in Sweden.

@@keysersoze5920 we found it quite good, especially the NCO Nitrocarburized Oxidation finish and how it manifested on the sleeves. When loading and unloading plates, at first glance of the sleeves you'll think scratches are left. But with a simple wipe of the cloth it all goes away. One thing though is that the sleeves seem to run a bit tighter than the Eleiko XF Bars. Since both bars are with bushings and bearings, we were assuming that the spin experience be the same, however they weren't. It could be that we really didn't use it enough to properly "break in", but then again the Eleiko XF Bars were great from the beginning. Plus, generally a bigger fan of the patina, bare steel, chrome, look. As for coming out with stainless, do you think that adding Chromium would affect the rigidity of the shaft of which an Eleiko bar is so well known for? Personally, think the chrome finish is plenty good especially with how Eleiko does them. The only other "steel" finish look that maybe as good as Eleiko's chrome is Kabuki Strength Electroless Nickel finishes, of which unfortunately they seem to have discontinued already. Thanks for the additional info on the Ulfberht swords lol as a fan of the Vikings series - however the storylines may have been sensationalized and distorted - it's certainly something to look forward to seeing when we get to visit the Scandinavian areas of Europe! History is truly complex. It's definitely sooo difficult to judge what intensity of acts are criminal and which aren't. Then again, it is always good to reflect on the past and try to sort out how we'll want to be remembered by generations down the line. By any chance are you a Swede? I just know that Keyser Soze, from googling, is a character from a movie I'll probably checkout during the weekend lol looks interesting!
@keysersoze5920
@keysersoze5920 2 жыл бұрын
@@therackdotcoph Hello again! No, lol, I am not a Swede, but my daughter is half Swedish. You can also find (on You Tube) how the Ulfberht swords were made, though no one really knows EXACTLY how they were made, just like no one really knows EXACTLY how Mongolian recurb bows were made. Chromium is the main ingredient added to iron so as to make stainless steel, and I feel that there is NO reason why Eleiko cannot fabricate such barbells. I just think it’s a consumer cost issue, as stainless steel is more expensive to fabricate (which explains why my Ironwolfe barbells are about $1K each). However, Eleiko’s chrome coating is very good, but there’s no better feel of a barbell than stainless steel, plus there’s almost no maintenance. FYI: Uesaka coats their barbells in nickel, which is also excellent and intriguing.
