Great video man. I did something very similar to what you did. But rather than welding the greenteeth pocket tip to the original cutter base, I plug-welded the bolt holes in the wheel where they were mounted and then drilled new holes, to mount a set of straight greenteeth pockets instead. It adds a bit more weight to the rotating mass, which is great, and it cuts pretty quick. Thanx for the vid bro!!

Very good video! I noticed on both mowers (Ferris and exmark ) i saw the brass jet one said 43 and the exmark said 40 on the rim of the brass last night and was wondering why both would be exposed like they were and why nothing seemed to work that Iv done ( all maintenance and cleaning ) and still both surge and backfire ! I stumbled onto a forum and then to this video explaining exactly what I’m missing hahah . I appreciate the video again sir ! This blew my mind as I was not thinking or looking for the fix or anything to do with a Welch plug whatsoever ! The video was just there ! I now know I am missing these Welch plugs on both of my mowers!! Thank you ! Take care

Sir, you have given me back my sanity. My Kawasaki FX730V was doing the same thing. I found and covered the hole with my finger and it smoothed out. Found replacements on Amazon and ordered. My local dealers did not know what the Welch Plug was. Again, my thanks!

I worked in a rental store for over 20 years. We sharpened stump grinder teeth all the time. Use a regular wheel for the steel, and a green wheel on a bench or diamond right angle grinder wheel for the carbide. I also purchased a stump grinder and sharpen my own teeth.

Walbro repair kit part number K1LMF includes new welsh plugs and is about 10 bucks. I had the same problem but my plug was just leaking not totally gone. A new plug and a smear of RTV over the top fixed the problem.

Thank you. I’ve seen other people show that also. That’s good to know. My problem with my Kawasaki 18 horse is the mechanical fuel pump for some reason pumps more fuel than carburetor can handle. So it completely fills up the carburetor bowl and overflows out the top of the carb. So what I have done is put a fuel line restricter on it. However that hasn’t really solved anything yet.

You are aware that hawks are a protected species by the fed govt? The turkey can kill one but, you can’t. That includes falcons, hawks, eagles, and owls.

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU Skimpro2!! My metro mower starting doing this today while cutting. A few years back I had a coil pack go bad so I figured the other coil pack that was still original went bad. After troubleshooting that wasn't the problem. After I quick search on KZfaq I found your video and problem solved! My Welch plug was actually sitting sideways in that little tiny opening. Pulled it out, cleaned the area up a bit and put it back in. Runs like new again! I can't thank you enough for posting your findings to help other people out such as myself.
