On the topic of crunch in ttrpg's, as someone in their mid 20's who's been an off and on dm since 5e came out, whether or not crunch is good or preferred is largely irrelevant. It doesn't matter what I, or the 3 or 4 really dedicated players of mine think about crunch or how complicated we want the game to be, because the people who don't like crunch just won't play. If I limited my games to just crunchy rules systems, I just wouldn't have a group to play with 80 percent of the time.

We know you'll only have 5 regiments total (with 1 hero and 0-3 other units in it and 0-4 for General), everything beyond that is a auxiliary. Edit- The your phase thing applies to spells as well. Every spell says "Your Hero Phase" on them yet you can cast them with a CP ability in the other turn.

I had a fyreslayers army in AoS 1 and 2, but mostly collected and lost every game I played. So I finally sold it at the start of AoS 3. And now I’ve bought most of my old army again and I’m looking forward to bringing them in AoS4. The preview really didn’t move the needle much, I’m ready for short fun either way even if they’re trash! 😊

I don’t think I understand the question around the frigate charge working. It seems pretty clear to me, you can’t charge with transported units so they are dragged along by the frigates ability.
