Very nice! That is a fine haul. The Marx will probably not take too much to get them working properly. It would be nice to put those C&NW bi-level cars behind an E8. An excellent video, as always.

Marx guy here, as I see it, one Marx 999 at $35.00 and eight cars at $5.00 each at $40.00. A good deal for $75.00 total. While at the show, record some time digging in the junk boxes under the table.

The 3 A.F. Car are at least $15-$20 ea. I have no idea how much the HO stuff goes for. Looking forward to seeing what kind of deals I’ll find next week at the Galesburg train show.

That is a nice haul, for sure. Now and then, you have to pay a bit more for something that you really want. That is some nice Marx equipment. I don't know much about American Flyer, especially their pre-war O gauge. Plenty of people would like that HO stuff. It looks like it would be a good starter set for someone. A good deal, all the way around. An excellent video, as always.

There’s one in Galesburg next weekend Saturday and Sunday. I think the dates are the 28th and 29th. I’m planning on going to that one. I’m just not sure which day it’s held at the Knox College Saturday is 10 AM to 4 PM Sunday is 10 AM to 2 PM. There’s also one in Springfield in the fall. I can’t remember if they took October or November.

That video was from my old layout, and if I remember correctly, it was 18 gauge. Since then, I built a new layout and I use 14 gauge to my track and 16 to the accessories. But also my new layout is tubular track and not fast track. Thanks for watching

Nice acquisition, PaPa! The AF 355 Baldwin diesel loco has a rear screw hole crack, VERY common. The 290 Steam Loco has a tin tender, fastened to the chassis by four metal tabs that some/all are twisted off. Both locos are good runners. You did VERY well! Enjoy! 🚂

I'm happy you discovered this and shared it with us. The summer of 1971 I was employed by the Monon Railroad, in the Monon Shops in Lafayette, Indiana, repairing and servicing the diesel locomotives. That is the summer the Monon merged into the L&N. Somewhere in my old papers I have Monon pay stubs, and one from the L&N. Maybe I serviced this locomotive. If yuo weren't supposed to be there when it is closed, at least there is no video evidence that you were.🤣

Excellent Work……outstanding craftsmanship……. Only a very very small suggestion….how about the dowels that you place on the far side of the track, being placed under the track? If you replace with metal pins instead of wood, you could also use them a s a contact or “power track BREAKER” to stop the loop. No trains fall into or hitting the bridge 😂 Quite frankly….you have taught me a ton…….again OUTSTANDING CRAFTSMANSHIP! Thank you

A lesson - - The bulbs you call post bulbs are really known as bayonet bulbs. You push them into the socket and then you give a little twist. Now you know the correct name for these bulbs.

When you use a junction block - you can jus strip the insulation off of a short piece of wire then you can just screw the bare wire to the terminals you want all together. No need to use those crimp on spade lugs. Easier and less work and cost.
@larryberger9440
@larryberger9440 25 күн бұрын
Sound like you have a big project ahead of you. You really do not need 2 bus lines to the far distant track. The outer rails are the ground and so send th electricity back to the source. You need the center feeder wires only. Save yo a lot of wire to do just the center rail. You use flux when soldering the wires to the track. Flux would also make soldering the tracks together easier.

This video will help you with that 290. I was given a 293 that did not work and got it working wonderfully now. The only difference between the 290 and the 293 is that the 293 has red glow in the smoke stack and a pair of rubber tires on two of the drive wheels. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/r9d7ndZ4uKrMfKs.htmlsi=UNHZBROFsnaZ6j05 I will be happy to get that 290 working in exchange for that Hudson tender.

I know this is a video from last year, but I have a TMCC 8x8 layout that is powered by a CW80 transformer with classic Tmcc controls and a legacy powermaster. I’m now having this issue on my layout. I’ve already tried tightening the fastrack pins and I still have voltage drops. Does this style of wiring work on O-42 curves?
@Pvilletrains
@Pvilletrains Ай бұрын
Yes, it should work on all fast track. When I redid my layout, I got rid of all my fast track and changed over to tubular in my opinion. It works a lot better and also is a lot quieter.

3:52 tenders; they are American flyer O gauge (3:16) both are to be used with an engine with out the center rail pickup, the spot in the front is for the connection to the steam engine for the center rail. If there is a switch on the bottom it has a motorized chugger inside. 16:33 caboose; is most likely a Williams made in the Kusan brand style and mold. K-line used the same body but never those type of trucks. 21:50 boxcar; is a MarX (3:16 scale) with the early metal tilt coupler, the other coupler is a Lionel adapter deal. 25:00 MarX log dump cars. The spring steel holds it down??, and the lever will release it but the tip has the spring on it so that it can back into a spot with a rod sticking up and then move move the train forward and then dump the logs, or they can be dumped by using your finger on that switch on the side.. 28:15 Boxcar made by Kusan, often used on two rail O gauge track, will mate with Lionel type couplers.

You have some nice A.F. there. All box cars or cattle cars with opening doors were made with those metal latches, which sort of catch on that nub. The white residue has leached from the plastic. It can be removed by heating with a hair dryer. You are right that one of the flat cars did have an operating search light. The two MONON (pronounced with a long first 'O", which ran from Chicago to Indianapolis to Louisville, is a line I worked for the summer it merged into the L&N) do carry semi-trailers. One is part of a set which included a ramp so that the trailers can be loaded and unloaded automatically. The yellowish flat cars are part of a Civil War era military freight set.

Marx guy here, that green tin GAEX 1950 was part of a 1950--54 Santa Fe # 21 set as displayed by Dave Clark Lumber recently. [ The Art of Marx Trains, Part 21: Marx FT AA 21 Diesel Freight Set 45200.] The log Dumper is triggered when you back-up to the log receiver. The Marx 3" Christmas Boxcar looks to be NEW MARX. That`s a super-duper purchase. REQUEST! I`ve been looking for a O gauge Dutch Cleanser Boxcar, if you come across one, please let me know?
