Great video! I recently picked up a twin in terrible condition that I’m trying to fix. I’ve got one side working but on the other side of the game won’t boot. By exchanging some boards I found out that the problem is in this bottom board for the graphics. Do you have a suggestion which part of the board might cause that the whole game won’t boot? I have no LED lighting up in the cpu with this board connected. Thanks!

I had a rejuvenating-device, a Müter BMR-2005. On some Tubes it worked, on some not. Mostly Sony and Philipstubes are immun to this.

Which chips are responsible for graphics? Is there any one chip responsible for the title screen?

The two Daytona pcbs I have in my Daytona twin have perfect 3d gfx and then all of a sudden all are gone?! And after a while they come back would this be the ram? seems strange on both of them its the same problem.

Greetz! You likely have completed this video and repair already. Just leaving my contribution! - Appears the board is capable of generating the music just fine. Judge still out on digital samples although sample EPROMs are okay. The IC responsible for playing the digital samples could be at fault, or the 4558 op amps at IC97 + IC98 (Samples iirc) and IC99 (Music iirc) failed preventing consistent playback (more likely). Can verify at the source - Are the samples and music playing, but just not being amplified correctly? These are quick tests that can be checked by tapping into the outputs of the sample and music generator ICs output to something like a pair of cheap amplified desktop PC speakers. Can compare in/out of the op-amps. You can even see the music and fighting noises playing on the scope this way. Also, Great channel!

I have a bk 467 i bought it to rejuvenate my street fighter 2 cab monitor, the tube was very dim, no amount of focus adjusting would sharpen it up this was even after a full chassis rebuilt my picture pots where nearly on max, also it used to take ages to show a picture, the tube has screen burn so it has many hours under its belt, i just did a gental clean and balance to begin with the guns and the difference was unbelievable, nice sharp picture and the tube shows a picture very quickly, i did that 3 years ago and the tube has had more hours put onto it and still looking good.

Hello - I did an entire cap kit on my Sanwa PM1745 C chassis with a vertical collapse and to my surprise It didn't fix the problem. Any idea where else to look? I have the twin Japanese Daytona USA and would really like to keep them. They were working fine with hundreds of hours of fun and the left monitor just tapped out.

@@christophzett Hi - Yes, IC vertical Chip and all the caps. I have to re-check the solder points and see if I missed anything. I should have done the recapping a section at a time like you did for better trouble shooting. I want to keep this set. I have a Twin USA set also. Any ideas I would appreciate them. Thank you!

I've got a nightmare one of these with a sound issue. No attract screen music, but plays when game started with missing samples, ie: No sound when hitting opponents. All 3 sound eproms verify ok. Volume works ok.

Well done. I love your Videos. If you ever want to try to fix my Sega X Board Super Thunder Blade PCB let me know. It has trouble with the sub CPU and unfortunately I am at the end of what I can do. I already asked a few guys but everyone keeps a distance from that PCB. My DX cab would be happy ;)

Hi Doktorzett, I'm wondering if I can ask you a quick question since you have a working Phoenix PCB. In my repair on the CPU board, does your pin 11 wiggle on IC34? Mine is not and thus the two flip flops I suspect at IC37 are not doing much. In my case its stuck high coming out of IC34 and I want to confirm that its not the correct behavior. Is that correct? Should pin 11 be wiggling to have the flip flops be activated? Having real challenges getting a stable sync signal just to show garbage. I removed the CPU to take it out of the equation just to get this far. thanks so much for your help!

Just stumbled across your channel while browsing related videos on my subscribed retro-hardware channels. I *love* the detail you go into while troubleshooting this. This was extremely educational and I appreciate you sharing your experience with us. I remember playing Phoenix and Pleides back in the day, and I always wondered how similar they were under the hood - very similar, apparently! Thanks for the great vid! Subscribing and checking out your others now.

Howdy - I’ve been following your repair videos closely. I really appreciate the detail you spend to explain things. You’ve inspired me and I’m currently attempting my own phoenix pcb repair. I wanted to ask if you could consider a video where you talk about changes that were made to the board such as jumper wires and such. The one I’m working on now has jumpers added, caps soldered to ic legs and other weirdness. Would love to see your approach to debugging why those types of changes were made, whether you try to go back to original board configuration, or other thoughts on this matter. Keep up the great work on these videos though!
