My tutorials aren't the best quality, but if you keep trying you'll get it eventually. Try to do slow, untimed solves with scratch paper.

You can think of the calculations as the distances between Clocks. That might help.

BTW for people reading the comments, you don't *necessarily* have to do basic arithmetic. Once you practice this for. while, it is mostly just about how much you have to do for one piece to match the position of the other

I watched this tutorial, and I have no problems understanding memo but am confused regarding exec. Do you always do M5 first or just whenever two diagonals pins are down? At 4:55, it looks like diagonal pins are already down, so what was the purpose of changing the pin state? Thanks for any help you can give me!

You can execute it whenever two diagonal pins are down, which could occur multiple times during your solve. I changed the pin state so that I could it simultaneously while turning a bottom wheel.

Are you consistently DNFing in the same way? Keep in mind that it's normal to get very few if any successes at first. I'd recommend double and triple checking your memo. Try writing the calculations out on paper.

If the back cross is not pointing to 12, you are messing up the M5 calculation. Also, make sure to read the description if you are struggling.

UR5- DR1+ DL4- UL0+ U1- R3+ D3- L6+ ALL5+ y2 U4- R1- D1+ L3+ ALL0+ UR DR DL holding the clock with 12 at the top and white front (startet scrambling with white front) M1: 1 M2: -5 M3: 6 M4: K M5: K when I execute this in the exact same order as you did in the tutorial, I end up with one side solved, and the other side is of by the cross where all cross pieces need a -2 to get solved. I went over the scramble like 5 times and cant find the mistakes. can you help me?

During memo can you just see how far away it is from it e.g. instead of u-r where you see where it is on clock can you just see how far away it is?

mental torture, due to my adhd, but completely worth it, i failed miserably on my first attempt, but on my second, only the u, c, l and d on the back were misaligned by 1, and as they say, 3rd try is the charm, i did it!!!!!!(even tho i had to right stuff down on my notebook to do it)

If you want to get faster, you should just learn 7 simul. Improving your turning accuracy will fix your problem.

Great tutorial caleb! i had a question for you though, when exactly should i completely switch to 7simul? i currently avg mid 6 with sheerin and my avg with 7 simul is mid 8. would love to hear your thoughts on this.

I had a few questions, as when I follow this vid down to every detail and with this scramble it works but for other scrambles I am still unsure about the steps: 1. Can M5 be always exe first if I were to blindly follow these steps for ever solve? 2. Why do you switch to solving cross and then move to executing the memo after 2 cross edges and alternate between these two? 3. Can this tutorial be followed down to the last word for every solve for it to work on clock? Or are there any intuitive steps in between that I am missing in case I am starting with Sheerin directly? Thanks for your time.

1. Yes. 2. It's just how Sheerin works. You don't have to do this, but you'd need to change the calculations to do it differently. This is not the most efficient way to do things (the most efficient way is the way that 7 simul does it). 3. Yes. There are of course intuitive tricks to make your solutions better, but they're not really worth exploring anymore with 7 simul around. If your goal is speed, you should learn 7 simul.

After practicing some more I noticed that in most cases when I complete the solve my entire clock is solved but my back side cross is not correctly oriented to 12 and in some cases I noticed that the clock is solved but the back side corners or cross are off by 6. I wanted to know in which step during the exe I might be going wrong as I am seeing a pattern here, just not able to figure out in which step I am missing a key part of orientation as in these solves the cross/corners are solved relative to each other on the back just not oriented to 12. Thanks as always

One thing that kept happening was all the edges U D L R were all pointing the same direction on the back when I was done but they weren't pointing the correct way.

@@TheCubePerfect I appreciate the feedback. For future tutorials, I will definitely try to be more clear about which pins should be up. Your error is caused by messing up the M5 calculation. Just think of M5 as the move that adjusts the cross on the back to 12. Sukant and I both have Sheerin example solves; if you continue to struggle with M5, you should compare your results with those in our videos. For it to work, you need to have the pins adjusted in such a way that the 5 clocks on the back will be affected.
