It's on my bucket list! Someone on my mom's side was kept in the hospital ward, but I don't remember what it for or who it was - think it might have been my greata great grandmother when she returned from a visit home to Austria Absolutely amazing idea to turn the individual illness wards (and that amazes me, that each contagious disease had their own ward) in to educational wings for each illness - and a dield trip to it should be required for all the NYC medical schools

At 3:45 one hidden gem on the QM2 is the Atlantic Room, which is adjacent to an observation deck on Deck 11. The Atlantic Room is used for bridge lessons (the card game), but that's only a few hours a week. The rest of the time, it's sitting completely empty. I mention it here, tying it to your comments about the library, because it may prove to be an excellent alternative if you're wanting a quiet space with a view. Of course, you need to bring your own book, but that shouldn't be a major problem for any avid reader.

Dad had weekdays off a lot so in my memories of all the breathtaking art and architecture we visited we usually experienced it all alone or with few other visitors.
