Hello, do you mean a second ADAT port on the Hapi MkII ? Not really, but as an additional digital i/o you may use the AES/EBU 8 channels i/o. Hope this helps

‘No Latency’ is not possible. It is hard for me to trust any vendor that says there is no or 0 latency.

To be technically clear, whatever you do digitally, there will be a latency. But will this impact your work as it is going in/out of a DAW ? Will you or the artist hear it? Anubis has a roundtrip latency AD-DA that can be as low as 16 samples to which you must add 3 samples (FPGA side). So we are talking here of around 19 samples, depending of the configured settings. So yes, there is a latency but far below of what one can hear.

I own an Anubis with a Merging Horus mainly for recording classical music (and never used the "Music Mission" however I would like to track some bands performing Pop/Rock music and provide them with an inear-monitor mix. So the option Music Music will come into play which is very handy now at my studio I use an SSL UF8 fader controller and was wondering if the mixer in the Music Mission can be operated by the means of a controller and if so which controllers are compatible with Merging's mixer?

Yes, the music mission would be the perfect tool for such application. Unfortunately Anubis is not directly compatible with controllers, but you have a very intuitive webrowser that you may open on a tablet or computer and manage it from there. Hope this helps

With respect to fixed vs floating point, you should keep in mind that 32-bit float allows for a resolution just slightly above 24-bit fixed point. Actually corresponding to 25-bit of fixed-point resolution, due to the implied 1 in the MSB of the 24-bit mantissa. Since many recent AD and DA chips now routinely offer a 32-bit (fixed-point) interface (when running in PCM), we are designing all our new products to benefit from that 32-bit wordlength path in a transparent form. For example, in the Anubis, going from any Analog input to any Analog output does already benefit from a fully 32-bit transparent path through AD conversion, routing, mixing and DA conversion. This does actually start making sense with products capable of Dynamic Range getting so close from the theoretical limit of 24-bit fixed designs (144.5 dB) which is less than a bit beyond our Anubis input AD specs of better than 139 dB! Our next mission is to gradually offer additional architectural paths allowing for such 32-bit resolution to be kept intact over IP transmission and storage as well. That is a huge endeavor and will take some time to be completely supported but it is our current aim. We might also consider implementing support for 32-bit float over Ethernet, which would not quite offer much more resolution but would have many other advantages when considering a distributed processing platform over network, with partial processing in different RAVENNA/AES67 connected devices/nodes.

It takes approx 20 seconds to go from one mission to another. The boot up sequence (when Anubis has previously been shut down) is approx 180 seconds

mac ok uses Anubis, did not find 32bit recording option, is the default is to use 32bit recording ？just need to select a 32bit recording in the DAW ？ I see a 32-bit recording option on Windows MAD，But it is not seen in the VAD on Mac

It's not a small amount of money in absolute terms, but it's the highest level of AD/DA conversion, high-powered high-fidelity headphone amplifiers, and powerful DSP and digital connectivity that we can get from commercial music production hardware. So I think it's a really reasonable price for the features, and if I ever needed more high-level digital interconnects and DSP in my current system, I would choose this interface without hesitation.

Hi, Ricardo I have a question about use case with the Anubis before I buy this incredible gear. Anubis is a network audio card and I can’t connect another soundcard (antelope orion studio in my case) with optical cable to Anubis and use it as converter. In the future I think I will give up the orion studio sc but I have some project with this soundcard and dsp effect on the virtual mixer of this,I can’t replicate on Anubis etc… I saw we can use wdm with Anubis and I have few questions about that. The goal for me is: - On my Orion studio sc virtual mixer I can configure a loopback to have the sound of virtual mixer of the orion on windows wdm channel 1 and 2 output for example. - At this step in the Anubis MAD config I activate the wdm to get the audio inside the asio of MAD Another question is about latency with this kind of setup: You can correct me if I m wrong about the audio route and processing: 1. Audio go out from virtual mixer to wdm (the mixer app of orion write on the buffer of wdm) 2. Windows audio engine read the buffer (it seem 1.3ms since windows 10 I saw in this link learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/drivers/audio/low-latency-audio ) 3. Windows audio engine write to the buffer for future read by MAD asio It seem the latency is fixed by the driver so if MAD asio configured in 48khz/48s (1ms) 4. Audio is routed on the channel defined in MAD So theoretically the latency is 2.3ms ? Another subject is the headphone output: I read on the net, this is the best headphone output include in a soundcard, but with a spec I m not sure if my hd800s can be driven correctly. Thanks

Being a non-proaudio person, I didn't find this video all that helpful. I feel that the least that Merging and/or its sales reps should have done by now is to create a HAPI FOR AUDIOPHILES video that ignores what for us is so much useless Hapi bloatware and instead streamlines the steps for setting up a 2.x+ stereo/multi-subwoofer system or 5.3 surround system. I don't think that's asking for much in the way of more relevant tutorials considering that more audiophiles are looking to those like Merging for a straight MCH DAC solution, yes?? Two weeks ago I emailed this request to Merging; they replied that my market niche is too small to make any such videos and pointed me to the NADAC for > 3x the price of the Hapi. They also ignored the fact that the Hapi MK2 will soon be reviewed by Stereophile's Kal Rubinson; ample proof that the Hapi has crossed into the consumer marketing zone.

In the Hapi MK2, given a choice, I wish Merging would have further increased the sonic quality of the DAC output stages rather than improving that of the headphone amp, even though that would certainly have resulted in a very big price increase. Trouble is there's only so much space on those cards to implement any circuit improvements.
