They included so much communist related mechanics, but forgot hunger. Very disappointing. Yes, they should have added limitation on number of subsistence farm such that it wouldn't effect early game population numbers, but would cause emigration like in Ireland, or deaths in case of closed borders like in the Ukrainian SSR.

In some ways this has got worse in patch 1.5. Some pops are too satisfied in their subsistence farms to leave and work in my new productive buildings due to a new building hire ratio making it slow to hire. The only way to get them to leave and join the unemployment pool is to build some agriculture and force them off the land because the subsistence farm gets removed this way. One way to wreak the economy, like was intended in the video, is to remove all of the subsistence farms by maxing out agriculture in every state.

Great tutorial, I’ve been really struggling with attacking convoys and I think this will help. On a side note, that Swiss ship was a legitimate target due to it being part of a British convoy but I’m sure you know that by now

Just did a patrol and sunk all 4 merchant ships in a convoy without any of the 3 destroyer escorts detecting me, your video helped alot thank you 🙏

I might be late but how did u get it to work? The first time I install it was a white screen, the intro played well but the starting menu was all white? The second time was a ok but upon starting the game it crashes and it doesnt save. Is there a way to get help cause I rly love the stt series, it's sad that there is no remake of this as well

I think its actually very realistic that a fully subsistence farm nation is the most stable. Historically, its industrialization which creates migration and spreading of ideas that destabilizes countries. Subsistence farms are a safety net in vic 3 because they’re a safety net in real life. Rely entirely on subsistence farms and you’ll be stable but poor in vic 3 as in real life. Subsistence farms don’t need to be removed. But what needs to be added, like was said, is natural disasters or crop diseases that affect agriculture and disproportionally affect subsistence farms

The dev still going on their forums they have stated they sperated from Slytherine and now working on a remaster update of game, although it will be the same game engine and its unlcear how much better the game would look or play? Unfortunately it be a re-purchase whenever the newer one comes out? I was hoping they do a 50% off if you had older game or soemthing but no mention of that. It will have a 64 bit verson so utilizes much more RAM. I love a mush more updated egine, and whole campaign around 1800-1815 and so much better UI but given pacience can still be fun if you love a really large, AI and tactical long battles like i do. I may just do some Victory & Glory and some Nap TW 3 mod until then etc I just played a waterloo battle as wellington and been trying my old copy

If you've gone concentrated industry why havent you produced any planes? With the extra production you can build a high quality plane in 1940 and have it outproduce germany by mid 1941, this would make the defense virtually impenetrable once you destroy their air

24:40 It probably would be less micro intensive to assign these anti tank divisions to a high defense stat general and set them as garrisons on supply hubs, that way the enemy cannot capture the logistics needed to push forward. If they attack anywhere else they are just playing into your game, as they will eventually lose supply exponentially.

How can you keep up with what the ai outputs? For me in skirmish the ai send out a lot of infantry and tanks and i can only put out just maybe half of that, even less

The peasants do not migrate to Prussia because he doesn't even understands that anything even exist outside his hometown..... Remember, these are illiterate peasants in the 1800s...... not a university educated software engineer who is a plane ticket and work visa away from better opportunities

3-4 million people working on subsistence farms supplying food for 400 million people would mean a vic 3 subsitence farm is as labor efficient as a modern farm using tractors (modern uk has about 1% of its population working in agriculture) seems pretty ridiculous

It completely is! The lack of mortality penalties, pop penalties, civil order penalties or anything really just makes it even more ludicrous; if you were a peasant in france with a literal feudal state in 1871, and just across the rhine you've got germany with industry and a standard of living above "peasant farmer", you can bet there would be MASS immigration out of france into germany (illegally or legally) and massive political turmoil as your countrymen demand the same standard of living. It would also cause political turmoil in germany as well as a large foreign population moves into their nation (refer to modern day examples for reference). I truly think subsistence farms are massively holding back the depth of the game and preventing more dynamic, immersive gameplay. The million dollar question is whether or not the game is actually functional enough to do without subsistence farms (or reduced output), and that WOULD be a test of the game's economic model!

Thanks! On the face of things it should be a pretty easy fix for any half-decent modder or developer as well; simply add modifiers every 5 or 10 years or so that slowly reduces the output of subsistence farms by 10% each 5 or 10 years, and that should force nations to industrialise while increasing the impact of shortages and economic crisis by the late game. This should negatively reduce populations as industrialised pops are forced to go back to subsistence farms which they do not have the skills or experience in running anymore (like modern day people trying to farm after three generations of being clerks!) This fix should also allow the ai time in the early game to build up without death spiralling! Add in a few famine events of varying randomness and severances and you should have a much healthier and more realistic system.

I'm not too sure; I think you can adjust size of brigades and such via the games files manually the same way you can adjust the order of battle, but i've never tried as I'm too much of a potatoe and whenever it tried to adjust the order of battle ended up with like 12 napoleon's running around!

I brought this up on the steam discussions and apparently subsistence farms are linked to amount of arable land, and it's pretty bad in China and asian nations. So, time to re-do the experiment in Asia!

As part of the national decisions you can unify the northern German states, then after fighting the German war of unification with Austria you can go to your cultures tab and select “form nation” and form Germany. It’s also how you can form Canada instead of the Hudson Bay company and India etc via this way
