My name is Connie Lou, and this is my favorite version of Connie Lou. He sounds like Elvis.

Listening to this longer version it suddenly becomes clear that it is heavily influenced by Arthur Smith's Guitar Boogie

Great track but CRIMINALLY underrated. Also its in marvellous mono, even in 1976 when stereo was WELL invented.

This track is the reason i blew my Escort gt motor back in the 70's to a full race ford anglia. I forgive you as the track is still epic in 2023😅👍

Sorry 'bout messing up your Escort, buddy 🤣, hope you'll get over it in due course. Just kiddin', comments like these always shows that I'm on to something good and that's definitely one part of why I keep this 'racket' up the way I do, cause I love it! Take care and all the very best to you and yours 👍

Thanks a bundle for the kind comment! This instru was recorded back in 1971 in my parents makeshift garage, using equipment hardly worth the name, a.k.a. a beat-up old Tandberg reel-to-reel recorder, a Hagström 'plank' from 1960. a mid-60s Kay flat-top, a mid-60s Supro lapsteel and a single German made Lefima snare drum, with an attached cymbal the size of a regular dinner plate! Those were the days, indeed...

@@burnette44 Thanks for your reply ~it's great to hear from you.... The man himself!! I just got to say I've have had so much enjoyment from listening to this masterpiece for more years than I care to remember.....!! Can I ask is it true that almost all the guitar parts were first takes, which were then edited together....or is that an urban myth? (....if it is, it's a damned fine one!!) Best regards from the UK....and "Keep Rockin' "🙂🙂
@burnette4411 ай бұрын
Yes, everything you hear on this tune was recorded in one take only and then edited together. Quite tricky, to say the least, but back in '71 (when it was recorded) anything was possible. Thanks once again for the kind comments, I sure do appreciate it to no end! @@paulhardacre1946

Didn't know about Bob Luman (will check it out) I only knew the Warren Smith version, great stroll step song.
@cindys181911 ай бұрын
This sounds like a more early in his career formula in which the vocals are less submerged and he uses a "group" backing.
@burnette4411 ай бұрын
Yes, this is an old track from the '60s. But as usual I play all the instruments myself (including the 'group' backing) and it was all carried out at my parents makeshift garage (where I also recorded "Såinning Rock Boogie") using equipment hardly worth the name. Thanks a lot for the comment!

As a teenager I bought "Spinning Rock Boogie", it was awesome. Thanks to this KZfaq channel I now understand your autism. Such a shame, if only you could have understood how to interact with your record companies you could have been absolutely mssive.
@burnette4411 ай бұрын
Autism? You should know as well as I do that the recording biz is a racket beyond belief! The only thing they want is a big fat bank account (at least as the big corp's is concerned). Personally I don't want to get into 'the big league', I'm satisfied if the cats listening to my stuff like it, and not if some money crazy corp. think I'm God's answer to humanity...as long as I bring 'em a big fat bundle of cash doing HITS, that's totally beyond my way of thinking when it comes to music. Thanks anyway for liking "Spinning Rock Boogie", a track I recorded in my parents make shift garage using equipment hardly worth the name, that's the way I like 'em.
