I tend to leave a minimum of 12 hours before eating and drinking anything except water. However, whatever time it is that l actually do stop/ finish consuming - because have to go out for drinks, dinner, an event etc, that is when the fasting period restarts. Once a week l do a minimum 30 hour Fast. I don't have a weight problem but do so to just remain fit and healthy. Edit: My dog too - gets fed a meal twice a day, no treats , snacks inbetween those meals.

No I highly disagree, alcohol is never a good thing unless you're trying to clean a wound with it other than that... it's trash.

Could you say something about the effects for older peoples? I was told you shouldn’t fast longer than 12 hours when you over 70 or should only fast three days in the week?

My trick after dinner would be either sparkling water or 16 ounces of hot tea. For the morning; Gracing on 32 ounces of room temperature water with half of lemon 🍋 or lime juice or apple cider vinegar. It’s so much easier than people think

I have started having a coffee with cream instead of breakfast and another coffee with cream for morning tea. I do not feel hungry until about noon. After a few days, I no longer miss breakfast.

Have your coffee, dairy, and healthy benefits too! First cup of coffee my way with heavy whipping cream and butter (well and turmeric and ground pepper). Later in the day I'll have 1-3 more cups of coffee with just Stevia.

I am not fully agree on soy. Dr Li should make it clear Asian consume non-GMO fermented soy. I believe they soy milk we get from the supermarket is raw and GMO, it may put your hormones out of balance to mostly women and also it block testosterone in men

Interesting point regarding organic being more healthy due to the fact that bugs help to create more chlorogenic acid...however, o non-synthetic "natural" pesticides may still be used to grow organic coffee. I'd think these reduce the bugs also (?)

It is a mistake to listen to someone saying that drinking coffee is good or bad for this or that reason and then base your decision on their claims. Every person has a very specific, distinctive reaction to coffee and the only way to see how one reacts to caffeine is to try it out. If it works for you and there are no negative effects, in whatever form that might be, then keep it on. And if you get bad effects then stop drinking coffee. But don't drink coffee if you don't like the taste or/and have issues with it just because the good doctor here says it is good for you. And vice versa, of course. Keep in mind though that caffeine is addictive and if you get hooked on drinking coffee, it is relatively hard to give the habit up, more so for some people that others but still. I know coffee drinkers who every so often will try to give up the habit for one reason or another and it is very amusing to me how they justify going back to it after only a few days by saying things like "I will just have one cup today and then I stop" or "Well, this pleasant conversation calls for a nice cup of coffee" and many other excuses. I personally drink coffee very rarely, maybe once a month and even less often. I used to be regular coffee drinker but I started having serious issues with caffeine - mostly I hated how it made me very jittery, unable to focus, jumping from one thing to another, easily getting into argument over trivial things, sleep was affected quite a lot in a negative way, very high energy the first hour after a cup and then a crash and feeling like a rag, and the list goes on and on. So after a few failed attempts to give it up, finally the negatives became so serious that I just stopped and have never looked back. I still somewhat like the smell of coffee but there is zero temptation to drink it. All the problems have completely disappeared and the only regret I have is that I didn't give it up earlier. I do enjoy black and green tea tremendously and have zero issues with that.

"Almond milk......" All of them. READ the label. I cannot find a SINGLE BRAND that just contains nut without guar gum, carrageenan, tara gum, assorted preservatives, CRAP and CRAP. So I do not use it at all. Thankfully I don't need anything in tea, but DO use half and half in coffee. Wondering if this applies to that as well. (Probably.)

Coffee has health benefits for sure, but caffeine is a vasoconstrictor, which means it narrows the blood vessels, which means slower recovery times from exercise and injuries; I have a 20 year old foot injury, and I do drink coffee, but my foot becomes a little numb while drinking coffee which is caused by the lack of blood flow; this is just my experience, I can’t speak for everyone; we are all different to a certain degree.

Dr Li I hope you see this. I took your advise and don't use milk in my coffee I use a creamer that contains some soy, almond milk, hazelnuts milk and some amount of coconut milk. What about the fat in the coconut milk could that encase the coffee chemicals like does milk?

Oh, yeah, and that soil organism or whatever discovered by a golf course in Japan that proved to have so many mechanisms of action against bacteria, parasites, viruses, cancer, and inflammation in humans that its discovery earned its discoverers a Nobel Prize based on the anti parasitic effects, alone… That was just self defense, too. True, some plants also try to poison humans, not just viruses (tobacco/nicotine), but humans don’t eat very much soil…

I’ll just go out on a ledge and suggest that putting sliced mushrooms on the window sill must be done outside the glass. If we don’t make D from getting sun through glass (we do get cancer from it), I’m guessing that mushrooms, like people, are using infrared wavelengths to make cancer-fighting Vitamin D, and it does not work to have glass blocking the infrared and letting in the UV. I’ll also point out that Australia and large parts of Africa are far from the equator where the sun shines year-round. Just because it’s the southern hemisphere doesn’t make it sunny in winter.
