another brilliant video Alex, thoroughly enjoyed it. we all get blowouts/ punctures....part of the game as you say. i've heard of a few of the 590's having trouble with the gearboxes, and i know my mate's 560 super has had some gearbox trouble too.

Thank you Glen I’m proper careful with my tyres but building sites are hard on them 🤦🏻‍♂️ I’ve heard this about the ‘Super’ branded Scanias (mine has the same gearbox) the mechanicals are great, apparently it’s a software issue, we’ll see… 🤟

Not a chance I'd dig out the tracks on a 25 ton machine.. a phonecall to the manager and id be off to the next lol.. Done it before, do it again :) You're a better man than me Alex *thumbs up*... Has that trailer got hydraulic rear steering?.. it gets into some tight places with ease..
@Stillgotallmyfingers
@Stillgotallmyfingers 4 күн бұрын
If I don’t dig, the next Low Loader driver will have to, so it is what it is The two rear axles are articulated but not under power, I prefer four axle trailers because they’re more nimble on building sites, tri-axles cut in like a curtainsider and are a bit numb 🤟

The thing is, I can only film myself on TimeLapse because the priority is the job and the TimeLapse doesn’t have usable audio Occasionally, if I can make it work, I keep the original audio from the machines because people do like it, I’ll keep it in mind this week 🤟

I delivered that machine and when the operator came on site with trainers on I knew it would come back a mess, a second operator (who should know better) left the other buckets at the far side of a muddy field too 🤦🏻‍♂️ We have a female operator who is half the size of those two and leaves her machines in immaculate condition, just like most of the others, you’re right it’s about teamwork I’m so glad you’re enjoying the films, thank you 🤟

Hi Alex, enjoy the content. It's clear you thoroughly enjoy the job. Call me ignorant but how do you make the trailer wider.? Whats its minimum and maximum width. Cheers mate
@Stillgotallmyfingers
@Stillgotallmyfingers 6 күн бұрын
Hi there, thank you The trailer has four hydraulic pumps two on each side with switch gear similar to the ramp controls on either side The trailer can widen to 3,210mm from 2,540mm, in practice I have it at full extension for 25 tonne machines and above and 2,700mm for twenty tonners and Moxys It’s a fantastic system, far safer for larger machines especially during the winter but it’s time consuming to clean with lots of vulnerable parts asking to get broken Definitely a one operator one trailer kind of thing, thanks for asking 🤟

Hi Alex lads use to say don't give him a red bull when he's on the digger, he drove it like it was on time laps 😅. Interesting video Alex. Is foxy fitting all the wagons with camera's it's a good idea. It will help in case of an accident to help the driver companies to quick to blame the driver.😮 take care.

Hi John, it was a busy week We’ve had internal and external cameras for at least five years, in fact I was surprised when I first joined ten years ago that the lorries didn’t have cameras It’s all to do with Insurance, it would be nice to be trusted but given the behaviour of a disappointingly large group of drivers in the Industry cameras are inevitable On a positive note, the camera will also absolve the driver from blame (something I’ve benefited from personally while working elsewhere) Thanks for your comment

I’m really sorry Sammy but there’s no way I can discuss our pricing structure, I would be fired on the spot I’ve talked to friends and acquaintances who run their own Low Loaders about the rates for moving third party plant many times… The answer is always the same, the rates are awful considering the wear and tear on your equipment, especially your (incredibly expensive) trailer It’s not impossible to establish yourself but your going to need pretty deep pockets and a lot of contacts in the Industry I wish you all the best it’s a hugely rewarding journey 🤟

What kind of tyre is that? Chinese? It hasn’t got 50 Ton on it has it Perhaps explaining to your employer that Bridgestones on steer are the only option Other then find someone else It takes discipline and I know what I’m talking about. When i finally found out the truth i turned to him,gave two weeks notice and went on holiday My life isn’t worth $200 per tyre for two tyres I left the road at 90kph with 100,00ltrs of petrol I have never driven a single axle ever again
@Stillgotallmyfingers
@Stillgotallmyfingers 9 күн бұрын
GVW for that job was 78 tonnes That tyre only needed to get me a further 5 miles to my final destination at 40mph on the motorway 30 & 20 mph in the town We replaced the blown tyre with a brand new Pirelli on my original rim on Monday as is normal practice, so it’s unlikely I’ll be finding another employer any time soon I appreciate your concern but considering I had just brought to rest, without damage, a 48 tonne crusher on a step frame trailer that’s just had a front end tyre burst, you might think I’ve got a bit of an idea about what I’m doing 🤟
@mungogerryjnr

@@Stillgotallmyfingers not concerned at all People that think all that weight is on one tyre,as you said should be concerned. Truth is,you drove it like that and that’s not one else’s fault is it,wasn’t someone else driving or holding you at gun point? You made that decision and you’re lucky you didn’t kill somebody or yourself. But you know,it’s your decision. Thing is I asked what tyre manufacturer was the blown one? You think you would be finding another job/cell the next day? Wouldn’t be the first would you and definitely not the last. You remember someone with this KZfaq money mate,you’re youe own worse enemy videoing everything. Don’t think I don’t know what it’s like,what it takes to NOT DRIVE ONE METRE ON A PUBLIC ROAD with a dodgy tyre.You did that and then make a big deal out the weight🤷‍♂️ I have driven trucks weighing 400 tonnes.I have pulled loads of that weight just in product,dangerous goods weight.Enough to kill everyone within 500mtrs,and I wouldn’t never consider driving one metre with a shite Chinese steer tyre EVER. But it makes content doesn’t it. Truth is you drove on a shite tyre and it blew out No I don’t think you know what you’re doing!

I’m not really seeing what you’re getting at but I don’t think racism is appropriate It was the original Goodyear tyre that came on the R590 new that had a puncture and it was replaced promptly with a tyre fitted on a rim that we had in stock at that time It did the job safely no matter what your opinion and we replaced it with a brand new high quality tyre ASAP, as is good practice, not forgetting the temporary tyre met all legal requirements My KZfaq is a hobby that isn’t moniterized, we do a good job at FoxGroup in an incredibly difficult environment if I choose to share my appreciation of my job and more importantly my colleagues, it’s up to us because we’ve got every right to proud of the hard work we put into a job we care about I appreciate your comments but please no more racism or bad language, thank you

@Stillgotallmyfingers
@Stillgotallmyfingers 11 күн бұрын
Hi Mark, thank you 🙏 It’s the Scania iPad holder, it works with phones too, it just came with the R590 but as I film footage with my phone it looked wrong to have the mount empty so I use an old iPad to fill in the space, it’s usable and fully charged but I rarely use it 🤟 I understand they’re on the Scania website, personally I use a MagMount which is indestructible and can be a mag charger too, I’d look into that first 🤟

Hi Mate love all the stuff you do, just a question if you had a 40 ton load that could be lashed down at all 4 corners how do you work out what size chains & binders to use? Or could you use 4x 10 ton binders does it work like that?
@Stillgotallmyfingers
@Stillgotallmyfingers 11 күн бұрын
Hi Daz Any mobile plant has to be restrained by a minimum of four direct, tensioned lashings, the lashings must be able to restrain 50% of the weight of the load falling to the rear and sides and 100% of the load from moving forward There is a mistaken belief that the step in a step frame trailer (like mine) contributes to the load security percentage, it doesn’t So yes one on each corner, I use smaller lighter chains & binders for smaller machines, they have a restraining quality of 8 tonnes individually, for big machines I have bigger chains and binders that are rated to 16 tonnes individually Simply put, I put the big chains on the big diggers and the small chains on the smaller ones I hope this helps 🤟

Another fantastic offering from you again this week. They keep getting better every week and it's all reality action not specially staged for the camera. Pity your truck is giving you transmission troubles at such a young age. Not something you want to have happening too often when you are always so busy delivering and collecting plant and machinery.

@Stillgotallmyfingers 12 күн бұрын
Thank you I can only film as I go along, sometimes the camera falls over or I mangle my words so I edit to make the best of it but that’s all, the trucks and the diggers are the stars of the show, not me I’m sure the R590 will be fine, it’s an electronics issue, the gearbox itself is incredibly good 👍

Hello Alex from Rob the pilot in Qatar (originally from Bury) I have to say that this is bar far the best video you have done to date. Perfect length, less than 30 minutes, great contents and editing, including some of your colleagues and what they do, perfect music. How long does it take you to edit all your clips into a video ? How long of your home time takes this up, hope your wife is ok with it ? When I was in Djibouti last week, you mentioned you were there for a while when serving. I always see lots of French troops at our hotel in uniform with badges on for their navy, some really smart ones saying pirate surveillance etc etc. Best wishes, Rob in Doha.

Hello Rob, I’m so glad you like my film I’m not completely new at this, I started out with photography and Reels on Instagram and actually was persuaded to start KZfaq I try not to edit at home because it wouldn’t be fair on my partner Tracy, I just get the footage and edit it as I go along (usually lunch breaks) I have a subscription to a music library (you’re not supposed to use music you haven’t got a license for) I just listen to that sometimes while I’m driving at work but more often on the way home, I know in a few bars if a track might work so I save it until I think I could use it I usually polish the edit, each evening before I set off home and have a final run through when I publish 🤟 I don’t think there was a building over three stories tall when I was in Djibouti but the French Foreign Legion were there and our team played them at rugby and we had a laugh and a few comedy brawls with them around the town too 🤦🏻‍♂️ Absolutely a lifetime ago, thanks for getting in touch and look out for next weeks edition

Thank you Firstly, although my job includes heavy haulage we’re a Plant Hire company that delivers our equipment, large or small to our customers or contractors We tend to recruit our Low-Loader drivers from within the company because it’s easier for people who are comfortable around plant and building sites to manage a job like ours, it can be pretty tricky at times and you’re really on your own I’d advise your Grandson to decide what field he’d like to do, investigate who’s the best company doing it and go and introduce himself, anyone worthwhile will be interested, even if they might not have a job available right at that time Aptitude can be as valuable as experience, I wish him well 🤙
