How does the cylinder bore coating or lack of coating affect the product selection? Say a nikasil coated aluminum bore vs a ductile iron uncoated sleeve.
@Line2LineCoatingsКүн бұрын
Cylinder bore material has no bearing on the coating selection. Almost all engines with the exception of Top Fuel receive our "Slick+ CC" piston skirt coating. Other factors outlined in the video come into play when it comes to determining the Target Coating Thickness (TCT).

What is the coating made of, do you have different compounds for different applications and heat ranges? Does the skirt length affect the effectiveness of the coating? What is the recommended variation for the coating thickness? Does the coating debris affect softer metals? Does this have thermal benefits or drawbacks not related to cylinder friction? why is figure 4A off center? Why did you cut at the end of a pertinent question? Are there metals this coating does not adhere to? Can these coating be applied with positive results to other pieces such as hydraulic lifters? Are these too many questions for a 20 min video?

So i need to have hone/ bore done. Get those numbers before sending you my pistons, or on a new build with oversized piston, can i have pistons Coated before going to Machine shop to save time.
@Line2LineCoatingsАй бұрын
We recommend completing all of the block work first and then getting the pistons coated. Sometimes things occur during the boring/honing process and the dimensions come out differently from what was planned. We cannot coat over cured coating, so if the pistons need to be resized to fit then they would need to be stripped and recoated at the cost of doing a second job.

Would a lower HP Street use engine benefit say 700hp na no boost? Has there been any testing on how many hours the coatings last?
@Line2LineCoatings2 ай бұрын
Yes, all engines can benefit from our coatings. We've coated pistons for use in engines ranging from chainsaws to Top Fuel Funny Cars, and that includes a lot of higher power street builds. Customers freshening up their engines after one season or many are amazed at how good the coating still looks. You can find many examples on our Facebook page.

I ran a 1400 horsepower turbocharged 414 cubic inch small block Chevy and I do a lot of drag and drives with this engine in 1.5 years I have put about 100 passes on the engine and 8,200 Street miles before removing the cylinder heads to freshen up valve springs and gaskets I noticed there are some white scratches in the cylinders that may need two or three tho to clean up would your coding be a good choice to do on something that gets Street miles along with drag racing at the power level that I'm at?
@Line2LineCoatings2 ай бұрын
Absolutely. Our coatings have been used in engines participating in Drag Week, and many higher power street/strip builds that are used as a daily driver and then taken to the track on the weekend.

Anybody ever run this coating on lifters?
@Line2LineCoatings2 ай бұрын
We have coated solid lifters and tappets to take up excess clearance. We cannot coat hydraulic or roller lifters unless they are completely disassembled so that we are only working with the lifter body.

How much thickness are you able to safely add to a standard 4" piston?
@Line2LineCoatings5 ай бұрын
We can add and have added .015" and more to the diameter of a piston without any issues.

@@Line2LineCoatings wow thats crazy, i would like to send a set 4.005" ross racing pistons for a SBC in to get the skirts coated. Around how much would that cost?
@Line2LineCoatings5 ай бұрын
@@CherezianRacing cost is determined by the number of pistons and the Target Coating Thickness. The base price for 8 pistons is $35/ea for up to .006" on the diameter, and $2 for each additional .001" above that. More detailed pricing can be found on our website at www.line2linecoatings.com/orderForm.html.

Kyle at SMS did a job well done promoting Line2line's services. The 2 of you made an extremely interesting, informative and from what I gleaned, as advantage producing. I learned something. Thanks for quickly helping Kyle out. I hope it benefits your business greatly. BTW, people are searching in KZfaq for you, producing more current videos can't hurt.

How would it work on some piston that have a bit of scorning. What is the max thickness of the coating on pistons.
@Line2LineCoatings8 жыл бұрын
+nFlames2 - we have applied our Abradable Powder Coatings™ to heavily scored pistons and it has worked very well. It won't fill in the scored areas entirely, but since we can apply up to .015" diametric thickness (.0075" per side) it will definitely help the piston fit tight in the bore again.
