Hello, Chad. Thank you for this great video. Being from a similar background, I am able to resonate with the views of Dr. Vinay Thomas. This video has been inspiring, for an heme-onco aspirant. Kudos for making it available to us. I would love to connect with Dr Vinay Thomas further and would really appreciate if you could give me his mail id, on his approval. Thank you. Good luck!

So, I'm a current MS3 and am rotating in NYC and I just wanted to take a moment to say that I've been so inspired by this video today! I'd never really considered Heme-Onc before today. And I just want to say that the way Dr. Vinay spoke about Heme-Onc and how passionately he spoke about it, made me want to go into it and now that's very, very powerful. To Dr Vinay, Thank you. Please let me know if I can help you in research, etc. I'd love to get in touch with you!

My daughter completed internal medicine residency in India. She is interested to do ID fellowship in US/Canada/UK. Without USMLE is there any seat for direct admission of international students . Please guide.

Question: if you wanna dual apply for anesthesia & IM, how do you go about applying to a prelim IM program at Institution and a 3-year IM program at the same institution?
@dr.chadconner2525
@dr.chadconner2525 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Tom when applying through Eras you have to apply separately to both your (prelim/transitional year) and your advanced fellowship separately. For the same institution just make sure to apply to both! Good Luck!

Hello, my mom has Multiple Myeloma, she was given Apheresis PLATELETS-LEUKOCYTES REDUCED. What is that? is it whole platelets or fractions? Thanks!

Hi! They are whole platelets but they are treated to remove white blood cells which decreases the chance of a reaction

Complex carbohydrates, and depending on your stage you'll want to limit your protein intake to around .8 grams per KG of bodyweight.

I'm having trouble googling this question, so I suppose I'll direct it to you Dr. Conner, or Dr. Faulino if you see this, or other commenters, anyone ... Is it possible to do an ID fellowship after a residency in emergency instead of IM? Is that something I should investigate by asking specific fellowship programs? Because I think I reeeeeeally want to get into ID, but I also REEEEALLY want to do residency in emergency haha, I'm a pathological generalist! (I'm Colorado-based myself and hope to stay here for everything I can, so any info about the local program is helpful!) Also, thanks for the awesome informative video! You guys both seem awesome, love this friendship between you and the quality conversation. I appreciate you making this!

Hey Emerald, I do not believe it is possible to do ID after an EM residency. ID is a fellowship of Internal Medicine only to the best of my knowledge

@@dr.chadconner2525 I appreciate the response! Darn, that does seem to be the general consensus I'm getting from asking around. Hopefully in a few years when I'm making residency decisions, it might be a little more flexible! Otherwise I suppose I can resign myself to just being an emergency doc who happens to have a side passion for ID instead of having to make it formal, lol 😆 Thanks again!

Hi Dr. Phachu and Dr. Conner, I am currently a PGY2 internal medicine resident who has become interested in Nephrology. I was hoping if either of you could offer more insight into the job demand and lifestyle of Nephrology Critical Care specialists.

Great to know more about ID from Dr. Fraulino, the most exciting part about ID is that you get to team up with the ultimate plethora of specialities and subspecialties/surgical and non-surgical.

Thank you for this video Dr. Chad and Dr. Erika, you really like doing procedures haha, I saw that grin on your face when you were talking about interventions, I will be starting my residency in near future, and it was very interesting to know the importance of case reports, QI projects, I had a notion that you need to have your name in some of the big trials and multi-centre studies to be considered for a position. Are there any objective criteria's like usmle scores for residency ?
@dr.chadconner2525

Glad you enjoyed! I definitely love doing procedures. Fellowships do look at objective criteria when screening candidates such as USMLE scores and research. Good luck in residency!

I had the same notion about H/Onc being a sad branch, but like Dr. Vinay mentioned you got to find your niche, there is a lot we can do to help those patients during their most stressful times of life. Would love to watch a video cardiology.

Hey! I would start by excelling in college and then medical school. Once you get into your clinical rotations then you can seek out a Heme/Onc mentor with an attending you rotate with. But for now I would definitely focus on doing well in school. That will give you the best shot possible to get into medical school
