Great video. Very high quality. I’m really looking forward to my first RideLondon (2024) in a couple of days, except for the weather forecast which is wet all day. ☹️ Are those central islands a hazard around 1:02:40 for example? I could see people forgetting they are there if they are behind other riders.
@velosapienАй бұрын
How did you get along, I started 2 hours later to avoid the rain at the start. No not really as others will point them out and you will notice the riders in front start moving left or right to avoid the street "furniture".
@Tailspin80Ай бұрын
@@velosapien I had a great time. I started in Pink B at about 8.30. Traffic was insanely heavy in the early stages and really I should have gone for an earlier start time because I spent the whole day drafting and overtaking other groups of riders. It was a huge amount of fun but occasionally tricky as the standard of riding varied quite a bit. I was nearly taken out when someone slammed on their brakes in front of me to retrieve their phone. Adding to the fun were the riders who had elected to start late to avoid the rain but then came steaming through on the right. Or through the middle… In retrospect it seems like a flaw in the rules that you can start late but not early. I lost about half an hour in traffic jams and a few minutes sheltering from a cloudburst but still finished about an hour and a half earlier than I estimated. Looking forward to next year but next time I’ll go for an earlier start!

Is there a time stamp for Ditchling Beacon ? And is that the only really bad hill in this ride, it are there others ?
@studiotwentyone2 жыл бұрын
I literally watched the whole thing.. the guy at 2:45:13 without the helmet and going faster than the speed limit at 2:57:51. Excellent ride well done to you! I’m doing it this Sunday and hopefully if I finish on Sunday that would be an achievement :))
@adamc5992 жыл бұрын
Did you finish? It was my first time on Sunday, I loved it. I wonder if no-helmet guy took it off for the climb, and we can't see it on his left side. It's only walking pace at that point, so maybe not a massive safety concern 🙂
@adamc5992 жыл бұрын
Surprised there was so much overtaking, especially early on - assumed people were started in order of the "expected time" on the registration form to reduce fast passes on slower riders.

I watched it and thought it was insanely quick ... then at the 2022 BHF ride on Sunday, I did it 5 minutes faster than this! I'm *not* insanely quick, but we did have a slight tailwind, so I expect that accounts for it.

I’m doing the London to Brighton bike ride in September does anyone know if this is the same route please great video and I’m now looking forward to the ride think I need some extra hill practice looking at ditchling beacon looks very painful 😓
@velosapien2 жыл бұрын
Is your ride organised by BHF, then its the same route. Ditchling is tough as some places are more than 10% gradient and also its at the end when you have burnt all the matches. Please let me know the date / organiser of your ride as I'd like to re-record this with more modern camera and gps equipment..👍

It’s organised via London to Brighton bike ride and anyone can be a sponsor im doing it for diabetes uk thanks for the info I’ve done a 48 mile ride an bottled a hill about 40 miles in so best do that ride again and complete the hill a few times I reckon as it ain’t as long as ditchling cheers for the info an stay safe
