He also broke taylor momsen's heart when he hung himself as she spoke with him the night before and was a big fan which for awhile she has said she couldn't even bare to listen to music let alone write any or play herself. my personal pick would be Nirvana any day

To be fair Def Leppard was a British Invasion band and in a different context to Motley Crue, makes sense why they survived.

Days of the new is not a Nirvana copycat... Travis Meeks is largely influenced by the Doors, Dead can Dance and of the Seattle bands he's more a fan of Alice in chains.. Days of the New is a solid band with great original music.

IMO the band that borrowed from Nirvana the best was Face to Face. Those first 3 albums, and "Big Choice" in particular deffinately sounded like it was borrowing more heavily from grunge than any of their punk peers. The percussive "power chord riff" driven songwriting is very Cobain-esque.

Something in the way is one of my favorites too! Supposedly, Kurt’s favorite song he ever did was “Drain You”; he was proud of it. And it is a great song. “Oh Me” is my #1 favorite and it’s so underplayed; that song never got enough credit. And he wasn’t even playing the guitar in that song.

Seether is this generations Nirvana. They even cover Nirvana tunes. You can tell Shaun loves Nirvana when he sings they're songs.

Kurt godfather of grunge? Come on! I love kurt and he sure was a prominent figure of grunge movement (im sure he hated that term) but been a godfahter in music means that you are way ahead of everybody in music styles, so much that you are pioner of a music genere that does not even have a formal name or definition yet, like iggy with punk music or james brown with the soul. As far as is know, Neil young was called the godfather of grunge numerous time...

Grunge was even less of a trand than nu metal. Couple years then gone with the wind... all the other rock and metal bands are still here.

On what Genne said, I feel like how much albums you have released doesn’t define you as an icon, it’s how good the albums you put out are.

You COMPLETELY FORGOT TO MENTION that Kurt was inspired to write the lyrics when he thought about the world from his pet turtle's perspective! He kept his pet turtle in his laundry room.

I do agree with Gene Simmons comments about the last 30 years and the fact that there’s not been HARDLY anyone worth keeping around. I disagree in that there were a few who made worthy contributions to music worth listening to.

I love that quote from Nikki Sixx. The dude was humble enough to admit stuff sucks right now. While still wanting to continue and adapt to the new sound. He's still not a good person, but even monsters have their soft sides.

Look where it got Cobain. A dead genius is no good, and who knows how many people he led down the tube. I'd rather be Noel... or at least his wife... 🥰

Early Motley had a raw edge to it. Similar to In Utero... All recorded live. Good stuff. Can see why Kurt said he liked it.

Grunge makes no sense. The big four of “grunge” sound nothing like each other. It’s tiresome at this point. Nirvana didn’t invent catchy hooks, quite loud quite, or dark emotional singing/lyrics. Nirvana and “grunge” just happened to be the 90’s response to 80’s rock. This video has to be 90% crappy AI and 10% Nirvana fanboy.

Still in the ads as I’m already typing. Puddle of Mudd. That’s exactly why I despise that band!!!!!! You can’t just sing a certain way to make it seem like you’re continuing someone’s legacy or even just to say I miss him. It’s not the way to be. Create your own misery?

These are the bands that enjoyed Nirvana's fame more than the band itself. That's why the Nickelback singer doesn't understand Kurt Cobain.
