@@HugeMenace I've been poking around in the geo nodes basement and it would be great to see some of the stuff from down there 'surfaced' into the gui interface. Such as re-configurable primitive generation? I'm doing some 3d printing, mainly with sub d so that I can max out the poly count for printing, and minimize it for editing. ND might give us the opportunity to do low poly edits, but dive back down into the process to increase the poly count when we need to print without the need to keep every thing quad based for the sub d?
@HugeMenace3 күн бұрын
You don't necessarily need Geo Nodes to achieve that. The beauty of working non-destructively is it's all modifier-driven, so you can model your shapes at a lower resolution and then crank it up before printing (increasing bevel segment counts, circularisation, etc.) The only obvious downside is the tedious nature of working through each modifier on your object(s) to increase those resolutions. But yes, ND will, at some point, do much more with GN and hopefully make that sort of workflow more efficient. It's also essential for game asset creation (generating high and low poly objects). - Tristan

@@HugeMenace True true :-) Would it be possible to have a variable that could be applied to some of the operators that allows us to input global values? The we could input something like '.5' into the value and anything tagged and it would decrease their value (such as vertex points on a bevel) and larger numbers would increase the value of tagged input fields?

Does ND work with curved surfaces as well?
@HugeMenace8 күн бұрын
It depends on what types of curved surfaces you have in mind. Some aren't possible to achieve using a non-destructive approach, and some are. There are also cases where a mix of destructive & non-destructive modelling techniques can be used together to get the best of both worlds. - Tristan

Hi I bought this addon on BlenderMarket so I have to make a comment, I need an array that can go over target object surface and properly align every object in the array to the target object surface normals. OK, I see where the issue/confusion is coming from. It wasn't mentioned explicitly in the video, but when you move Blender's 3D cursor via the "Cursor to selected" method, it only translates the cursor; it doesn't affect its rotation. The reason recon poly is correctly aligned in the video is that, at 8:13, I was looking at the bracket in the right orthographic view, and I moved the 3D cursor to that target face by holding SHIFT and right-clicking on its geometry. That action aligned the 3D cursor's rotation to that face (giving it a 90-degree rotation on the x-axis), which was kept when I moved it to the centre of that extracted geometry later. When spawned, recon poly will follow the rotation and position of the 3D cursor, so you'll need to make sure both are set correctly. - Tristan

Hi. I have a feature request. The Sketch Tool is great butcan it be expanded further. Currently it directly jumps to single vert in edit mode and then we have to use extrude to create desired shape for either solidifying or revolving etc modifier use. I wish if the Sketch tool expands further into drawing like 3dsketch tool in cad apps. Basically the power to draw a shape using line tool and seting up temporary constraints and of course snapping based. A goof example for it could be this vide - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/e8ycnpl-sa3OYIk.html although it is for splines but i see no reason for something like this for ND's sketch tool. lmk wut
