Hi MzWendaline, May I know the average cost of studying accelerated nursing degree in usa? I’m looking for cheaper colleges (community colleges?) with any scholarship; I am 39 years old, Canadian citizen, pursued masters in Biotechnology and Masters in Public health in Canada and have been working in clinical trials for more than 11 years in canada but I am always fascinated about nursing; if you could let me know some community colleges in US that would offer accelerated bachelor nursing be great help!

Hi! Normally, community colleges only offer associates degree in nursing. For an accelerated degree program, you would have to look into a public or private university.

Okay what do you think of this plan: 1. Complete prerequisites for nursing school 2. Take (and pass) the CNA cert course 3. Get a job as a CNA 4. Apply to nursing school and pass 5. Get a job as an RN is this the order I should do things? Thanks.

I'm doing the same as you, but I'm Taking my CNA certification class this summer and then starting my pre-nursing classes in fall (it would be my first semester). Hopefully, after getting into a BSN program.

I agree with the working back to back tip🙂I'm a nursing student and I used to work as a part time PCT 3 shifts back to back. And then I changed to PRN status and worked random shifts (rarely on consecutive shifts), and surprisingly, pre-shift anxiety was 100x worse when I worked as a PRN on random shifts!!! I ended up quitting that job. So I really agree on working back to back shifts. At least you know your patients and what you're going in to.

I'm so lost. I have a BS in Finance and Business Management with minor in Theater. I hate my career. I feel so drawn to the world of health care. I have 2 kids and with mediocre money. I was told that some A-BSN schools/program still recquire you to take chemistry all over again (when I had a passing grade of C+ lol) and I'm dreading it.

Yes, they might require chemistry depending on how long ago you took the class. Either way, I think it would be best for you research the school you want to attend to ask them specific questions. Good luck!

Hello, I have a bachelor degree in education ( Biology and Chemistry + Education ) obtained from Kenya ( Africa) and I am now living in USA, Texas, what can I do to join nursing in your school ?? Thank you
@ashleyhearts8561
@ashleyhearts8561 Жыл бұрын
First identify which nursing program you want to get enrolled into and then send your transcript for evaluation. The program will let you know which prequistes you need to take and maybe some of the courses you took from your previous school will be accepted. After you get a list of prequisites you need to take to be accepted to a nursing program you can enroll in a community college and complete your prequisites. Texas has several programs you can choose from eg uta has an accelerated bsn program but you can research and find the one that suits you best.

Congrats! I would say try not to overwhelm yourself with taking too many classes at once especially when you’re taking the science classes. It’s important that you do really well in your prerequisite courses to ensure that you get into nursing school. So, take your time and always utilize resources available at your school to help you succeed in all your classes. Good luck! Let me know how it goes 😊

Hi, how was the capstone for you? Was it manageable? Was it similar to the other nursing classes?
@MzWendalineRN
@MzWendalineRN Жыл бұрын
Yes, it was manageable. The class kind of walked you through it. Every week we had an assignment that went towards the capstone project. At the end, you put all that work together after all the corrections and then submit it. This was during the pandemic, so I hope they are still doing the same thing. Good luck to you !

I worked full time days went to school evenings and weekends for 2 years. I took the LPN NCLEX. I passed the first time! This was in 2006! I went back to school in 2013 for BA In Healthcare Administration…. I received my BA in HA in 2017 but couldn’t get a job because in America you HAVE to have 2 years experience before anyone will ever interview you !! I was devastated and now 60k in debt because of a promised job that never happened!! 😢😢😢I was instructed by the Government that I worked for… the VA OPM. The HR girl said “No. you can’t work in healthcare administration, you HAVe to leave the LPN pathway you are on and “reapply “ in order get yourself on the correct pathway within the Veterans Affairs Department. I followed her advise and had 7 years in the VA at that time. I wasn’t able to even get an interview!!! No one would ever speak to me because I had left!! I felt like I had been taken advantage of by someone that didn’t know the REAL facts!! I reapplied multiple times in 6 years and no one gave me an interview!! Finally, when Covid hit and everyone is now boycotting all healthcare jobs because of the way healthcare workers treated during that time… they hired me back…. And no one wants to be nurse in the US bec the government paid people who never worked MORE money than the nurses that were out there doing the job!! 😮😮😮 it was horrific!! The IS government needs overhauled big time! Government pays people to stay home, while nurses are out there, taking care of the people that are sick during a pandemic are paid less wages than the people that are sitting at home on their big butts is absolutely insane! In no uncertain terms that literally shined a huge light on the US government! That means our government is the most corrupt And have absolutely no idea what the public goes through on a daily basis! But they let all the companies let all the employees go that produce toilet paper lol! And those people were able to sit at home and collect more money than an RN does working in the ICU, watching people die! so is healthcare in America actually worth it!?… And maybe this explains the critical nursing shortage that America is now facing because students have dropped out of healthcare altogether and have decided well no I’m not gonna be a nurse because I saw Merica treats those people let me sit at home… And work from home in a finance office

Don't RNs make around $50/hr on average? That's more than what most people make. I saw some travel nursing agencies paying RNs $100/hr during the pandemic! A lot of people were out of work due to no fault of their own, and did not have a job to go to. I myself would've loved to be working, and being on unemployment was a pay cut for me.
@MzWendalineRN
@MzWendalineRN Жыл бұрын
Not all RNs make that much. Some even make as low as $25/hr depending on the state they work in and level of experience. At my first RN job I was making $33/hr.

This video is incredible- I am so glad I watched this. I have a B.S. in Public Health-- Your video is so professional, so I first assumed you were going to say you ended up doing the Master's or ABSN. I'm relieved that people are sharing their positive experiences taking this route. I don't want to go further into debt, but I really want to become a nurse! This is a great path to transition & for people who may not be able to dedicate what a ABSN or MSN requires. Also I'm so happy that it didn't take 2 years 🥹 That was my main worry with ADN route, so I hope I can complete it much sooner!
