This helped my OCD constant picking holes into my scalp and pulling out my hair. No fidget toy helped but then I remembered my grandpapi played spoons and I remembered liking it. Found this video and learned quickly. Now I focus all that energy and anxiety on popping off rhythm after rhythm! Thank you!

I grew up in southern WV in the mountains to this same music. It seemed everyone on my mother’s side played an instrument and the ones that didn’t were excellent singers. Our family always had Sunday dinner then this same music after. All the way to dark. I learned to pick the Wildwood Flower when I was 6. I just had to be a part of my families music! The Mainers bring back a rush of my own family that’s gone now. It was truly a blessing to run across these videos!! Praise God for people like them that bring such blessings!!!

Jazz drummer here. This is super cool. A little like rimshots. I've got to work this into an arrangement ... just because ... .

Cheeks as red as a bloomin' rose and eyes as the prettiest brown She's the darlin' of my heart, sweetest little girl in town I wish I had a glass of wine and bread and meat for two I'd set it out on a golden plate and I'd give it all to you Shady Grove, My little love, Shady Grove, I say Shady Grove, My little love, I'm bound to go away (Banjo solo) When I was a little boy I wanted a Barlow knife And now I want little Shady Grove to say she'll be my wife A kiss from pretty little Shady Grove is sweet as brandy wine Ain't no girl in this whole world that's prettier than mine Shady Grove, My little love, Shady Grove, I say Shady Grove, My little love, I'm bound to go away (Guitar solo) There's peaches in the summer-time, apples in the fall If I can't have little Shady Grove, I don't want no gal at all I went to see my Shady Grove, she was standing in the door Shoes and stockings in her hands, and her little bare feet on the floor Shady Grove, My little love, Shady Grove, I say Shady Grove, My little love, I'm bound to go away (breakdown) I wish I had me a big ol' horse and grain to feed him on And little Shady Grove to stay at home and feed him while I'm gone I wish I had me a needle and thread, as fine as I can sew I'd sew my pretty gal to my side, and down the road we'd go Shady Grove, My little love, Shady Grove, I say Shady Grove, My little love, I'm bound to go away

None can compare. Permit me to mix genres a little. It has been said that Jascha Heifetz was God's violinist. Let me say then, Doc Watson is surely just as rightly, God's Guitar picker!!!!

On the second spoon the way the finger holds the side of the spoon must be awkward and sore after a while. For a better grip and you don't have to suffer it any longer. If you're play them for a living best you get a small plate welded to the side of the Handel you will notice the difference. 👌🏻☘️
