I know of no style more appropiate than traditional Ving Tsun for the streets. It gives you tools to deactivate a fighting situation without having to resort to violence. Its the gentleman's martial art. In a ring, where its a 1on1 and your opponent will want to go on even with a broken jaw, ok, its much less useful. But the streets usually dont give you many reasons to stay in a fight until the bitter end, its more an ego thing. Even better than VT is keeping your cool and being psychologically savvy. As I said, the streers are more about nervous twats with a huge ego than about fights to KO in a ring

Morihei Ueshiby when he create Aikido he was inspired by Jujutsu, martial art of samurai used to disarm oponent. Technically Aikido is good when you want to disarm someone of a sword or possibly a knife, but of course, you can do it in any other way you choose.

I mean I guess I chose the right school because while we do form training most of the time, we also have 2 sparring sessions per week with actual gear (helmet, gloves etc.) Part of the training is also ground combat, grappling and trapping lessions, I figured they decided to implement other styles while keeping Wing Chun the main one to actually make it more fexible. And you won't believe how many aggression simulatons we have, it's actually weird, even in a controlled environment, being pushed around, put on the spot... The nerves kick in and performance changes, but as Ranton said one of the biggest part of the training is how to AVOID fighting. An avoided conflict is a won conflict, every, single, time. The perfect martial art is the one you create by always learning and adding to yourself, basically your own style after gaining as much knowledge as possible will be the best one.

I can't believe I only just watched this now. I'm a street fighter and I've put down my fair share of flashy martial artists. I find a bit fun to see the expression of their faces go from complete confidence to complete despair.

I trained for more than 4 years and taught basics and anytime someone got cocky i would remind them that size and weight matters, dont overdo it. Be brutal and sharp. Make it hurt and get out of there as soon as you can. Anytime someone asks if they should bail other martial arts and i would always say is : why remove a tool from your toolbox? The more you know and the more you are experienced in various forms the better your odds are. So long as your fundamentals are mastered

The script's a direct rip of the original karate kid so it is vary un familiar to the realm of someone teaching Kung Fu or any other practitioner. This movie is a joke. it's a rip of Karate Kid sotry and script made for Big Willies kid and is not even Karate; even they rag on it...yet still called it Karate Kid.

Not a per se wc practitioner but less effective than aikido? Dude you need to see some of the people who have fought kyokushin fighters and there are some dudes from china who are using it in kickboxing also.

i find OUT FAST why it`s called Mk1 and not 12.. in a away i find this game underrated and the sponsors and all the hype on the UFC time and mk11 did make money easy, now they dont` have all that so they must i GUESS do it little by tittle. however this is for me not the same series as MK 11 and Mk12 is coming i feel confident. this is a modern Mk arcades style game. like the press down Upercat is back to faster and normal, animations is great etc. kombo`s are also more arcade style old scool feel (MK /mk1) HAVE THAT IN MIND. if the game was to alike 12 it would be boring too. Mk 12 need more time, for me its underrated and IT DESERVES MORE TIME, and the Dlc and stuff WAY to expensive yes
