Hey man, this was an awesome video. It’s amazing seeing these reels being put to work like that with those big fish. How has the reel held up since then? I’ve been thinking about getting either this or the Saltiga in the 5k size for large snook. I find myself wanting the Certate more because the design is so flawless.

You need to put your crimp sleeves into the crimping pliers oriented vertically. Then you will put the rounded corner into the appropriate size slot in the crimping pliers. Look up blacktipH how to crimp properly. Just looking out

How do you know where the artificial reef is without a fishfinder? I know you can get the coordinates on the website, but how do you get to them?

@ScottMikles2 ай бұрын
@zacharyscott9146 You're welcome. It'll be well worth it to get one. There are tons of artificial reefs that are kayak distance down the coast here. From Santa Rosa Beach all the way to Navarre. In Navarre, there's a cluster of 26 of them all spaced out about 500 ft apart.
@zacharyscott91462 ай бұрын
Sweet. Do you download maps that include the reefs or do you type in coordinates from the website and save them to your GPS?
@ScottMikles2 ай бұрын
@@zacharyscott9146 You can find them online in different places depending on which area you're looking for them in. Then I'll make sure they're the correct coordinate format and create the waypoint on my Lowrance.

Does the main shaft have play? Does the stella feel like a toy after using saltiga? As my friend on youtube friend told me that there was play in the shaft as well as in the spool.
@ScottMikles3 ай бұрын
It doesn't have any play. And I do despise any play in my reels. When asked to compare the Saltiga and Stella I always say the Saltiga does feel more sturdy or heavy duty. Both have been great with no issues so far. Knock on wood.

@ScottMikles thanks, man. It's even worse because I bought the rod last year, and they're awesomely sensitive... but I accidentally snapped the tip on a 4 lb bass (not a bad a way to go, though) a week before opener. Warranty replaced it.. so I technically had the rod since last year and have yet to actually trout with it lol.
@Eclipse19883 ай бұрын

Would you use the 10000 for surf fishing or is this just overkill for surf fishing?
@ScottMikles3 ай бұрын
A reel with this much line capacity and drag is bordering on overkill for that unless you want to target sharks, then it's a great option. A smaller model like a 6000 will keep it more sporty for anything besides sharks.
@311hitwall3 ай бұрын
@@ScottMikles The reason I was thinking of the 10K size is due to the mono capacity. I probably can't sling a surf rod a 100 yards but still the smaller reels so even if I could that would leave about 170 yards. I guess that would be enough. What does the D-H stand for on the 6K? I noticed the 10K doesn't have a D
@ScottMikles3 ай бұрын
@311hitwall Deep spool, High Gear. You will have much less capacity with mono, so bigger size may be the move.
@311hitwall3 ай бұрын
I was also looking at the Saltist and it must be a mistake on the Daiwa site. The 14k for the Saltist shows that it weighs less than the 10k??

Im curious, what is the Mano needed for? Can I just run wire instead? Do I need Mano?
@jackchn2315 күн бұрын
The MONO is for shock and abrasion. Without the mono, the shark can snap the braid the wire is attached to because of the violent headshakes and jumps.
