While the Parade ready certainly looks better, you’re right about them being pretty similar at a distance. I think I’d be tempted to use just a few of the improvements and leave most of it as per the battle ready standard. Great to see them both side by side.

Great video! You’re the first person I’ve seen use gold on the collar trim (how I do it). Would be great to see your take on Astral Templars, since I’m painting Yndrasta’s spearhead force in that scheme at the moment. 😁

I also find a deep red or a red/brown colour works well as a shade for most armour colour and adds great definition, even straight up on a lighter mid-tone base. Wonderful stuff 👍

Fantastic work. Honestly I think Abaddon is the hardest model to paint in the whole GW hobby as his scult has so much fine detail. So no need to be hard on yourself. Great job

I'm obviously not a professional but it seems way easier to spray it white, black wash, highlight. Then to do it this way painting the entire model multiple times. I'm already a slow painter so no disrespect I wouldn't do it this way.
@ph3lansminiatures7 күн бұрын
:D Sure, this is not meant for painting your troops. It is more for something fancier, like a special character. There are definitely easier ways to do it, but some people,like me, just like the more difficult fancier approach :)

Jesus, you have come a long way. Been here since the beginning of your channel and I am just flattened about your progress as a painter. Although I don‘t like the airbrush I have to say both models look absolutly beautiful. Not to mention the fact that I have a squad of Terminators at waiting to be painted…😉
@ph3lansminiatures12 күн бұрын
Thank you. It is hard to see your own progress sometimes. So it is great to hear that people like you who have been looking at it from the start can see the improvement :) Out of curiosity, why do you dislike the airbrush?
@robertrichter738912 күн бұрын
@@ph3lansminiatures I might get heat for that, but it feels a bit like "taking the easy route". I struggle a lot with blending and light placement on my models and seeing those quick airbrush results is disheartening sometimes.😅 On top of that an airbrush setup takes up a lot of space and additional money that could be invested into more brushes, colours or even new models. In my case, it wouldn't fit my painting space. To sum it up, sometimes I just don't like the "clean" look of some airbrush paintjobs. Not yours of course, because you manage to get an end result that looks really "complete".
@ph3lansminiatures12 күн бұрын
@@robertrichter7389 You won't get any heat from me at least, those are perfectly fine reasons :) An airbrush requires quite a bit of investment in time, money, and space and not every one will dig the look it creates. The only thing I don't agree with is the "easy route" one, although I fully get where you are coming from. The airbrush is a pretty difficult, but really fun, tool to learn but once you know what you are doing it can do some things faster and easier than the brush, but using it creates its own problems. You need to deal with overspray, it destroys the recess shading, it desaturates the colors etc. So you basically trade one set of problems for another :D For me the airbrush and the brush are complementary tools, you use them for their strengths and compensate for their weaknesses. Using them both makes me a better and more versatile painter overall (or so I hope). But not using it is perfectly fine as well, you can put more time and effort into your brushwork :)

Are they really oil paints if you can mix them with water? Did you paint over the gloss varnish at all?
@ph3lansminiatures12 күн бұрын
Yep, they most certainly are oil paints and behave like they are supposed to as well as you can see in the video :) I covered the gloss with matte varnish where I applied the transfers, except on the shoulder pad, where it makes the colors pop more. On the rest of the model, the oil wash knocked back the glossiness enough so that I conveniently didn't need to do anything.
