In today’s video we will take a trip down memory lane and look at different stages of my miniature painting journey since I started in 2020 up until where I am today.
The biggest problem with starting this hobby is that the learning curve is quite steep to say the least and your first mini will look nothing like you imagined.
You think that your finished figure will look like the beautiful box art, or that incredible paintjob you saw on Instagram, you work up your courage to start painting the mini, you do your very best, spending hours painting a single figure and then it ends up looking like a big mess.
But with this video I would like to show you that that’s perfectly fine and you can’t just teleport yourself from being a beginner to an expert.
And even if you could, you probably shouldn’t since you would miss out on most of the fun. You know the cliche about the journey and the destination… well it is kinda true.
So, if you want to see my terrible first attempts, and then follow along as I discover volumetric highlights, learning airbrushing, finding new paint brands and tools, trying out contrast paints and oil washes, all the way to NMM, color theory, combining brush textures with airbrush and stipple glazing.
Then let’s turn back the time to 2020, see where it all started and let’s see if you all can learn something from my journey and apply it to yours.
