Could be that they used the same dual pots as the 80's "modern" Strat, which had the exact same treble cut / bass (and treble) cut functionality.

You have no idea how I've been looking for this video. Why? Because I bought a Predator and had to change the tone knob. The thing worked, but had some issues. Long story short I sent the guitar to a "luthier" and it was rocket science to connect a tone split coil. This happened a month ago, I've been looking for the answer since then (and I have a compass lol) Thx!!!

I wished I would have found this earlier..ended up paying $750.00 for diaphragm replacement on 6 valves!! I was under the impression that the valves were being replaced..unbelievable..I am all about blue collar work getting paid..but to pop off the "bonnet", removing 4 screws and replacing the diaphragm which now cost $6.60 and charging $125.00! Well, come on guys! That is just a little too much to charge in my opinion!

Try turning down the tone pot as well because the sharpness of the treble can make any tuner jittery just from the high treble tones..

A person would use the stock TBX pot on a typical strat guitar having all single coil pickups, (for the bridge and middle pickups), but on a guitar having humbucker pickups would you have to swap out the 250k resistivity trace part in the TBX pot for a resistivity trace part from a 500k CTS pot?

You don’t have to back the screws all of the way out. Just back them out enough to lift the bonnet off, and leave them in the bonnet holes.

They fit pretty well? From what I've seen Bill's pickups are usually a little taller than standard ones.

Nice video! Is there any rule in humbucker pole positioning? For examle booth pickups north pole towards the neck, or similar?! If not, the active pole can be moved inside or outside just by turning the pickup upside down?!

Good video. When I’m running an existing steel screw back into its threaded hole, I gently rotate the screw counter clockwise until the beginning of the screw threads mates with the threads in the hole. There is a moment when it drops into the threads and makes a click sound, you can feel it as well. Then of course start the screw clockwise. Works every time. And works on just about anything that is threaded.

My nylon coupler on the tele switch got stuck down inside it when I tried installing, I guess I pushed too hard but when I pushed down it did not function as push push, it just stayed down and would not pop up. I took off the knob using the set screw and pulled it off but the nylon coupler stayed down there lol! Any help would be appreciated. Ordering box pens now. But still need to get the old one out and figure out why this happened. I don’t thinking taking the board off will give me access to remove it. I may need to melt it ? I dont know but nice vids you are a guru. Oh never mind I just finished watching the rest of the vid lol I will take it apart

I have changed my Pup's a few times, i usually pay someone to do it but during the Covid restrictions, like many other folk, i found i had time on my hands. I bought a flat Pack TV cabinet from a mail order company called Very. It was a solid Mango wood unit. Anyway i made myself a Super Strat, HSH. I wanted to split the Humbuckers and was flagging in confidence until your video spurred me on. So thank you for uploading this over a decade ago. The Strat i made is a good Guitar, even better than i expected. I would recommend going down the flat pack route for Guitar Timber, it proved sustantily less expensive than buying it from my local Timber yard.

If just the poles are out of faze but not the wiring,will that pickup not work,or just sound terrible? Quara question: A numbnut takes a set of neo dim magnets and runs it over his single and H pickups a few times,thinking it would charge them,using the attractive side of the magnet,possibly. Will that make the guitar sound like doo doo,or what would happen? Thank you for your time and vid! Any help is greatly appreciated!

fleor sells cheap picks ups and if you snoop around you will find conflicting info on the pin out . some say black wire is hot , some say green wire is hot . the pair i was shipped has the ground lead connected to the black wire . my pal is telling me " you can hook them up that way but its wrong ... so i will have to do some testing . its never easy for me . i cant complain , i love spending time this way !! so much more fun resoldering everything then having to put extentions on the pick up wires as everything is melted , the drilling the hole in the guitar larger as the shrink tubing wont fit . drill thru the back of the guitar drill thru the pick gaurd . fun !

I'm currently trying to correct the wiring on a Peavey with dual humbuckers (HH) -- Peavey Generation Custom EX. It came with a 2502N 5-way selector (branded Alpha), also known as the "Ibanez switch", which indeed has a humless "inner coils" mode in position #2 (and humless "neck coils parallel" on #4). So I guess the N-S N-S makes sense. Thanks for the demo!

This subject has always confused me and I am sorry to say I am even more confused now. Maybe, had this included a visual chart, it would have made more sense. Holding a bunch of wires in your hands and switching the leads around multiple times while talking north and south poles to the earth was not helpful. I doubt I am alone in this. Off to the next video.

Don't touch any of your magnetic tools to your pickups, it is fixable if you have high powered magnets, but by doing so it can ruin your pickups.

THANK YOU!!! Got a quote to replace the valve for $305. Then I found this video. I just took the top off, cleaned the diaphragm put it back together. Runs like new.
