What’s the torque spec for the caliper pin bolt? Can’t find it in my manual or online.
@Mac-bn Жыл бұрын
Though it is 7 years ago, it is very informative, the problem i have is the 320mm disc is touching the brake adapter, at first some says to shave the adapter 2mm, and also to shave at the disc rivet to 1mm, after seeing this video, i abandon both ideas and follow your video. So by doing as what in the videos, it means the disc will not touch the adapter, am i correct. And also the tools you using is it a torque wrench? Thanks
@duddzzz Жыл бұрын
after you do this are you able to torque back to spec when maintaining them?

Yes you can check to make sure they are in spec. They should be good but can always check torque settings. Thanks for looking

The caliper bolts are 25 N*m with Loctite 243. The caliper pin isn't specified so I guess the answer is "plenty" with Loctite 2701.

Why is it not ok to use compound please ?
@Motoxindustries Жыл бұрын
You can use compound. I just used finer sand paper to get it smooth. At the buffing point all you need to do is polish the plastic. Some compounds are a little aggressive for the plastic and leaves swirl marks. Thanks for looking.

When you say not much room between the rotar and the rim do you mean between the bracket and the rotar? Because mine is rubbing the rotar disc
@Motoxindustries Жыл бұрын
We mean there is not much room between the top or the rotor to the inside of the rim. Makes it hard to get the caliper over the rotor without hitting the rim. What bike do you have and what number is on your bracket?

Did you have to change your swing arm
@Motoxindustries Жыл бұрын
No stock swingarm. We did trim the tire a little for clearance. Just took a file while the tire was spinning. Maybe 1-2mm off. We suggest using 4.25 rim with a 150 tire for a better fit. Thanks for looking

Is it fair to say that the centre line of the rim, should always be exactly centred in the forks or swingarm, is there ever a bike where that is not the case? Just wondering if I can do this more accurately with measurements on my dirt bike rear wheel, as the rim is very narrow relative to the swingarm, so eyeballing it like you have in the video isn't really possible to do accurately. Doing it via measuring is easy enough, just want to check that my assumption of always centring the rim centreline to the centreline of the frame (so hopefully, centre of fork or swingarm) is valid?
@Motoxindustries3 жыл бұрын
The rear has to be offset to clear the chain. The front does need to be centered in the forks but not the hub. Some front wheels fit multiple models with different spacers. That is why you would need to offset the wheel to make the rim centered in the forks. Thanks for looking
@TheMadMagician873 жыл бұрын
@@MotoxindustriesThanks, helpful video and appreciate the quick response. If getting the clearance for the chain offsets the rim to the side of the frame centerline, is there some rule of thumb for the maximum distance that is acceptable?
@Motoxindustries3 жыл бұрын
@@TheMadMagician87 you want as close to center as possible but enough to clear the chain. We go about 18mm from the outside of the rim to the inside of the sprocket for the minimum clearance on sprocket side.

What about the back of the pin that threads into the new bracket that I see in front of the pad. When the pads runs down will that hit the disc I mean the rotor
@Motoxindustries3 жыл бұрын
The caliper slides over that pin. That's what keeps the caliper aligned. It will not hit the rotor.

Man I really appreciate you posting this video! I ordered an SM kit for my KX450, which uses the same bracket, from Warp9. It has the little scan code on the packaging which takes you to their website for install instructions but they don't even list my bike. Stupid. I could've probably messed with it and figured it out but I was honestly over it at the moment, already super irritated with the multiple screw-ups that I had with Warp9.
