For the seeming advances in lgbt rep Disney has made, I consider those to not be enough. Most Disney lgbt characters were not even in the spotlight, shoved into the background, just put there to receive praise for being progressive. Although it’s not and probably will never be confirmed, it’s somewhat clear Disney cancelled the owl house, not because it doesn’t fit their brand (because let’s be honest, they have made darker shit than TOH, and also HAVE dark shit on Disney+) it was mostly because of the lgbt rep, as we also saw Alex Hirsch face reprimand from Disney when he was making Gravity Falls, as he made two cops (who were not even main characters) gay.

Even though I'm a guy, the alone episode hits so hard as a grooming victim. The comparisons are not one to one, but I've done about 80% of what the teacher did and all of what nurse bendy did at some point in my life. Just swap the obsession with the locks for a obsession with health/self defense guns/constantly scanning surroundings and swap the kid teddy bear stuff with self made stories/art and its the same stuff, though I have never given myself a abortion with a hanger because you know I'm a guy. Can't really comment on that one. Also the hunting trip with dumb southerners. My dad/uncle are by no means crippling alcoholics/trauma dumping on us but one hunting trip on our land, they got drunk enough to not be able to drive/do anything complex. I ended up cutting myself on a knife i was cleaning like 1/4th the way through my finger. But since I/my cousin were too young to drive and they were drunk, we kinda just sat there for the night and 14 year old me had to figure out how to just handle it. I just ended up pouring some rubbing alcohol on it with adhesive bandages when it needed stitches so I had to change the bandage like 4 times that night. The next morning we hunted and for reasons beyond my comprehension to this day, I didn't show them the cut now that they were sober and did a morning hunt where I climbed up/down a 20 foot stand with a massive gash in my finger. Started bleeding a lot when I got to the top/bottom of the stand but thankfully it was below freezing that day so it quickly got numb/the cold slowed bleeding down. I went home and showed my mom, she sent me to the army vet doctors at the end of my street and she gave my dad the biggest talking down of his life.

Honestly, I hate the theme of Sam. Its like, these people are marooned on a planet, running out of resources, many have lives to return to. Why is it "bad" to be focused on a task? Sam isnt outright destructive to the environment, life is short and smelling the flowers isnt going to help the goal of getting off the planet. His narrative just seems forced and a series of unfortunate events down to Ursula falling asleep for a short time just for an egg/seed to popped in his chest at the very end of a benign act medical assistance. Like most people wouldnt be successful surviving if dropped in the outback out of the blue by just showing reverence to nature and waisting time... theyd die. It just doesnt sit well with me.
@MeromorphicКүн бұрын
Realistically, yeah, I agree. I think the "reverence for nature" idea is just shorthand for not being miopic. Sam can't really see the forest for the trees. It doesn't make him a bad person or character in the slightest, but when compared to Ursula, it does make him less capable of surviving.

I am surprised that you didn't mention the shard paywall at the arena, which made it not worth the hassle for me. Don't get me wrong, I loved the game as much as you did, but a few attempts of the easiest challenge with insufficient gear set me back about as much as buying a new weapon, which is why I ended up lowering the difficulty to complete the harder challenges after I finished the game, just for completeness sake. However, the worst part was the challenges with set gear, which forced you to use items you may have avoided because you didn't like them. I managed to complete the whole first set apart from the Slitherfang with set gear, that was just way too annoying. Considering that every attempt basically cost me about 30 minutes' worth of shard collecting, it lost all meaning to me. But not to talk all bad about it, I really enjoyed the gameplay loop, the story and all the side content, so much even that I even went for 100% completion of both the main game and the DLC.

I really like the fan theory that some of the Vestan species are the result of bioengineering or abortive terraforming attempts, as things like the critter gas mask seem designed for earth mammal usage. They may have hybridised back into the population. It would explain some of the biocompatibility that works against people as well. On earth, fleas starve if they bite the wrong mammalian species, let alone something from a completely alien clade. Humans don't survive a second incompatible blood donation from another human. So you'd expect insta-death or at least incompatibility if something gross from an entirely separate evolutionary line injects you with something, either for the host or parasite. Instead, the host provides a compatible model for building a homunculus/construct, and is an adequate carrier for a parasite, or is compatible for umbilical nutrient exchange. Bio-engineering would explain that. I sort of build on that to suggest it's related to the Hollow's almost compulsive hatred toward human tech. It seems to really enjoy trouncing human-made craft and objects, and I wonder if that's an instinctive or inherited rage against a failed colonisation attempt by a potential competitor species.

Awesome work, dude! I might be crazy, but I like to think Hollow is a metaphor for humanity's colonialist/expansionist urges. It starts off just as another survivor species, but once it's given a tool that gives it power over the environment, it loses all self-control, becoming a destructive force that consumes everything in a short-sighted revelry of dominance.

I think one of the reasons Ursula seems to thrive is that she most likely has a background as a botanist/horticultist (which comes with a more indepth education of biology than some other science fields) If I'm ever stuck on a foreign planet and had to pick one person to survive with, I would pick someone with her background without hesitation. Heck that movie with Matt Damon where he gets stranded on Mars and has to survive? Guess what his characters field of study is in? BOTANY! 😎

There’s a detail that I cannot get out of my mind- and it’s the contrast of symbolism seen in the last episode. The image of a skull gilded in gold, frozen, unable to decompose, in comparison to the constant cycle of growth, life, death, decay, and rebirth present on Vesta is astounding

I actually found that the scene you played with the trans woman and said was kind of questionable super relatable and found that it was super relatable to my experience.
@chair5473 күн бұрын
You transition to make yourself comfortable In your own skin, but once you do that you're also placed under immense pressure to behave in the "right" way if you want to be taken seriously as a trans person. In the clip you see her using her voice which isn't the most feminine voice in the world but it's hers and she likes it and she's happy with it. And then when she has to interface with the outside world she has to change that part of herself to meet social expectations.

This video aged like milk. Savathun is a product of her situation. She was destined to live 10 years, their apocalyptic collapse was fabricated by the darkness and henchmen of the witness, and then had to take in worms which forced them to commit atrocities or die. We don’t get to say who does or doesn’t deserve the light. The Traveler has committed far more atrocities in abandoning civilizations fully capable of providing them with ghosts yet Sol is the planet that receives it so. And here we fucking are. Furthermore you’re bordering a thought process that is equally dangerous: they have to pay. Our prisons are riddled with people who have to pay. We, as humanity, have a choice in how we educate moving forward. Instead of addressing the root cause “making someone pay” is always the easier choice. Sometimes the hard things and the right things are the same. How about a world in which those decisions that shaped the destiny of the hive were no longer a thing. Mate, it takes effort to heal and having many living testimonies to the history of how such things came to be is equally important. If she is to pay, then it should be with the construction of the future. Justice isn’t the end all be all. If we could move forward even a single step by rehabilitating and nurturing our lives, then so be it. Savathun much like a lot of enemies who couldn’t originally get past their shallow thoughts were important to the downfall of the witness.

I love Scavenger's Reign. There's a reason why I enjoyed small casts ensembles so much. Not only did Scanvenger's Reign had you explore different POVs, I enjoyed how each character was flawed. My most favorite is Kamen because his motovations are pathetic and (SPOILER) let's just say he's important for why the events happened. But I enjoyed his story and his moments made me wondered if he could either redeem or succumb to his downfall.
