sounds like the gate attendant was under informed. Not misinformed or uninformed, but definitely under informed. I was so glad to hear her acknowledge they were service animals. SO glad you got a refund.

A prong collar on a well behaved service dog. I don't understand this. Also the wide neck band and purple tail? Please reevaluate your accessories for your SD. Asking your dog to share abnormally small areas with unnecessary restrictive gear is not comfortable for the dog.
@theservicehyena30885 ай бұрын
at the time of this video my dog is less than two years old. shes a puppy. she’s well behaved BECAUSE of proper use of the prong collar. just because you don’t see it used does not mean it isn’t. the yellow collar is only on because the gear she was wearing did not have anything on it saying do not pet, the collar did. in the video her tail is pink, and not sure why it matters since it’s pet safe dye and in no way bothers her.
@theservicehyena30885 ай бұрын
the gear was not restrictive, the fact she slept the entire time should’ve been plenty evidence that she was comfortable. this video is also years old by now

hey! i know im kinda late im just binging all ur vids right now and i started wondering why you both are using a prong? as they both dont pull and urs listens when u tell her to slow down i was just wondering!
@theservicehyena30887 ай бұрын
fair question! so prongs are used for many things, not just pulling. it’s a form of communication and/or correction. at this time ridley was very young and needed a lot more guidance than she does now, but prongs are helpful at any age and we still use it at times. this was also her first time at an airport, so there was a lot to experience for her and mistakes will be more common. i’m very light on her corrections as that’s what works for her, and nowadays a verbal correction usually does the trick. if not, the prong is there as a back up, including for safety. dogs are always learning, and any dog of any age can make mistakes. a gentle reminder and we’re right back on track :)

8:41 "they're service animals" "I know that but" gonna stop her right there. That is one of the most incorrect and condescending statements to say when you are so completely wrong. I understand that ADA doesn't apply on planes, but the Air carrier access Act does and it very very clearly states what the rules are for service animals. Yall mentioned you called ahead and that suggests you as handlers did everything correctly and were following the rules. (BTW they CAN now require you to harness your dog and have it on leash in the airport, even if your disability would normally prevent that, and on the plane which is asinine so if you faint. bring the long leash or have a signed form printed out with your agreement in writing if your disability requires off leash tasking. or better yet.... go by Grey hound or limo.... it'll still be cheaper and nicer than having to deal with air ports if your traveling in the states. Try ferries or charter a boat if you're traveling internationally.... These airlines are just becoming an even bigger problem than they have been and it's only getting worse now that even the passengers are becoming more and more volatile. I honestly dont feel safe flying any more and it has nothing to do with gravity and every thing to do with other passengers and flight crews. I've been hearing a lot of recent disturbing stories about how people with disabilities are being harmed, neglected, abandoned and stranded or worse by air lines or becoming victims of other passengers. It is asinine. They keep saying TSA is for our protection and yet these same airlines allow all of this while ticket prices get more and more expensive every year. I used to think flying was faster and easier than ground or water travel... but now I know differently.

Why in the world do gate agents make up such ridiculous things ? “ no dogs in the bulkhead” … give me a break lady . 🙄 Once something like that is said then I would’ve been done with her. So glad you got the rental car ordeal delt with . We do try to build in 30 minutes to our schedule to vacuum but sometimes it is impossible and we just have to lent roll and 🤞 😊

Hello! I need to travel with my Beagle. I need to get a Service Dog certificate. How did you travel with your dog in cabin?Thank you
@theservicehyena308810 ай бұрын
what you are doing is trying to fake a service dog. service dogs are medical equipment highly trained for years for people with disabilities like myself. faking a service dog is a federal crime punishable by jail time and heavy fines, and you dog can even be taken away. exploiting a system in place for disabled people is not the way to go just so your pet can travel with you. some airlines allow pets to travel in cabin in carriers. you can look into that. otherwise they can travel in cargo which is perfectly safe and usually the less stressful option so long as your dog is well crate/carrier trained.

@californiadreamer2580 Жыл бұрын
When one is using ANY sort of public transportation with their service dog ,and really anywhere where other people are in an enclosed environment, it is just good manners to have your dog wear an allergy vest /shed defender, and keep your dog off the seats meant for people. In my experience, many people with service dogs rarely think of the people around them who ALSO may have a disability, i.e. may be extremely allergic to dog hair/saliva to the point of anaphlaxis. My own dog was a GSD, lightweight doggy PJ's and keeping her on the floor served her and the public well.
@theservicehyena3088 Жыл бұрын
they were never on seats meant for people, and it’s in the ADA that that’s not allowed. the vast majority of service dog owners do not use shed defenders, nor is it practical for everyone. i’m fully aware of other peoples need and allergies and always offer to move further away if need be. flights will make accommodations and move those with allergies if they ask. however i and my dog don’t exist to cater to others, and if no one says anything to me how am i supposed to know they have an issue? that’s on them to speak up about it, and in the instance they do we find what works for us both.
@californiadreamer2580 Жыл бұрын
@@theservicehyena3088 I wasn't referencing you specifically on seat use, but there are also a fair number of people with service dogs who ignore ADA guidelines too. I agree with you that people with serious dog allergies should notify airline staff when booking a flight. However, while I also agree that shed/allergy shirts aren't practical for *everyone* with a service dog, they are a relatively minor inconvenience for most service dogs/owners who will visit an enclosed public area, be it a restaurant, airport waiting area, Dr. Office, bus, etc.
