What can you do if you bought a too big size? can't return sadly. They're 2-3 sizes too big.

Thats a difficult one! I guess you'd have to trim the back down and glue a strap to hold the back of your foot. Not ideal i know!

I'm 68 and this tool is relentless in a workout. Absolutely indispensable, I've used them for about 8 years. My only complaint...if you fall behind on pace it shows no mercy and just grinds you down ha! Do not set it at a pace you can not manage. You can trim your intervals in small increments that are manageable. No wonder youngsters are better and faster these days with equipment like this. Sadly I was told I couldn't use it in a race. My training partner suggested we swim a "different" set the other day. Very simple 4 x 100m free on 6m 30s from a push off. I didn't use the Tempo Trainer but these are my times. 78, 78, 78, 78. I hadn't been below 80 for ages. I was tired afterwards but was more than happy with my input and consistency. Any coach who doesn't work with a Tempo Trainer is selling the student short. For any swimmer of any age who wants to improve their times this is where you start. Just buy one. Good video.👍

Nice bar tape, I got the same :-) For me, it is easier to remove the handlebar, but let the stem on the fork. Just four screws with the torque wrench instead of aiming for a straight stem and trying to get the right amount of pressure for the cap. Ymmv, of course.

I am a slow long distance swimmer and began using the Finis Stroke trainer last month. ALL my times have improved: From 100m all the way up through to 3km. I started slow with Mode 3 on 40 strokes for a week (about 3 or 4 swims), then in increments of +1 for the following week and so on. My 400m time has gone from 10:22 to 8:48 in 5 weeks. Note: I am 64 and only started swimming last August doing breaststroke then switched to front crawl in February. The trainer works (I am not paid to advertise this) and I would recommend it to anyone who is serious (or frustrated) about getting smoother and faster. You get smoother by concentrating on technique as your timing is being taken care of. You can also play around with Modes 1 & 2 and make your own ‘fun’ challenges.

For drills we recommend longer fins which are usually slip on. Take a look at Finis floating fins

I thought UNCO drill was specifically intended to encourage earlier breathing! That suggests that most people breathe too late not too early. I certainly did. I nearly drowned when I first started doing UNCO. I think the best freestylers breathe as they extend their recovery arm after it has entered the water. That coincides with the end of the propulsive part of the stroke, maximal rotation to the side, and the start of the recovery. By the time your recovery arm hand is entering the water you are beginning to rotate back towards flat followed by turning to the opposite side. You need to have finished breathing by then or you will be breathing in water. Presumably you are encountering people who try to breathe just before their recovery arm enters the water. Incredibly difficult I would imagine given that you haven't finished the stroke or reached maximal rotation.

I have just returned to the pool after more than two years away during the pandemic. During that time I did other sports and dry land work on my strength and mobility. Both of these aspects of swimming are in my opinion woefully missing from the knowledge of most coaches some even at the highest level. Almost all of my strength and mobility guidance was derived from non swimming sources. Some years back I added some movement specific training using bands to work on the catch and pull much as you have illustrated here. I have done four swim sessions now and I am swimming better than ever. The long time out of the water gave me a chance to think about my stroke and visualise what I should be doing. My increased strength and mobility is allowing me to put that into practice and the practical application is allowing me to fine adjust. Which in my opinion goes to show that the SAID principle has major limitations. Yes if you want to be the best in the world at swimming, or cycling for that matter, you need to become something of a physical freak barely able to do anything but your sport. But if you want all round fitness and health then there can be a significant crossover benefit from one activity to another especially when you are doing functional training based around fundamental movement patterns. Good for you for encouraging this as part of training to swim better.

Just remember the longer the event the lower the intensity and triathlons are mostly aerobic so you CAN train fasted for longer events if you keep the intensity low, which should be most of the time anyway. Save the 60g+ of carbs for race day and possibly 2-3 days before, depending how depleted you are. Most people actually train OVER fueled!

Yea so I’ve listened to this whole video. I’ve watched a huge amount of videos on swimming. As a triathlete I do struggle with the swim and am trying a great deal to improve my endurance and I’m constantly looking for good guidance and information to help me reach my goal. This video is awesome. I really appreciate all the information it has presented unlike some others that don’t really hit almost every aspect of swimming. So thank you for all the insight on the things I may need to do to reach my goal. Time to hit the pool !

Tried Zoggs Predator flex. A good fit but I found them to be poor quality - 1st pair, the bridge broke after a limited no of uses, 2nd pair had a leaky lense which made them unusable. Currently using Speedo Futura which are very comfortable. Just bought a pair of Nabaiji BFit 500 with prescription lenses - very good value, early days but fit well and comfortable.
