I prefer to do this lift with forearm parallel with floor sitting down, arm/ bicep fully closed, and the strap around just my hand, not the thumb or wrist. The farther back on your arm it is, the easier it will be.

People always criticize me for doing the “Devon lift” wrong, but I never claimed or used the words “Devon Lift” in my videos. And since Devon said this was a legit lift, I just had to make this video 😂
@A_Mystery_Man8 сағат бұрын
To be fair, Derek's forearm is very long and what may appear to be halfway down your forearm, is probably just partially down his haha. I think you slightly exaggerated the level of tilt upwards and the degree to which the strap was low. And if I was being hypercritical of your first lift, I would say that from any angle for a posting back pressure/pronation style lift, your elbow and fist should be in a perpendicular line relative to the downward force to get the most accurate result. In a match however, it is important to recognize this leverage point that Travis Bagent even talks about of having your elbow ahead of your fist as much as you can for the most power. Do the lifts with a fair setup, but cheating the lifts can also teach you how to cheat the setup. ;)
@EastsideArmWrestling50 минут бұрын
I could’ve done the lift again, I never tired this variation before the one time I recorded it in this video, but the ease with which it went up tells me I could’ve done it too, even with a more parallel angle/higher strap. On top of that, I noticed that Derek’s one also started with a high angle, it’s just that his arm opening up was what caused it to become more parallel toward the end. That being said, none of that matters as the main point of the video is to say that neither of what we did were Devon lifts. And Devon telling Derek that his lift was legit is just misleading.

@EastsideArmWrestling11 сағат бұрын
Based on how easy the weight went up, I could've put on more weight, but that doesn't really matter cuz it wasn't the point of the video. I'm hoping that most of the viewers will be able to see past the lighthearted teasing at Derek and understand the main point: Neither Derek nor me were doing the Devon lift, but that's okay.

@DevexTRE11 сағат бұрын
Yeah his form was a little eh, but as devon has said himself. Do what you feel works for you. Thats not the devon lift still lmao i dont get why people never understand how its done. Arm para to the floor, no cupping. and just lift it up slightly above the ground.
@EastsideArmWrestling11 сағат бұрын
100% agree, at the end of the day, do what works for you, as long as you see gains and progress, that's all that matters. Admittedly, this video was made a little out of frustration because I've gotten a lot of criticism for my past lifts when I never said I was doing the "Devon Lift" at all.
@TIMETRAVELLERWIM11 сағат бұрын
Derek definitely had a more difficult angle but yeah neither lift is a Devon lift.
@EastsideArmWrestling11 сағат бұрын
I'm glad you saw the point of this vid: neither of us did a Devon lift. And I'm sure everyone can tell, based on how easily I lifted that even with an arguably easier angle, I could've put on more weight, but that wouldn't really add anything to the underlying point I was trying to make.

I feel like Americans understand strength training in general but they are far behind in training method with arm wrestling, if they would apply tried and true training programs with lifts that are functional they could attain new heights... They already have crazy good pullers with enormous brute potential, they just need more refining. They could just go look up Daniel Procopciuc(201 ARMWRESTLING) or Rino Masic youtube channel as an example.

Larry hasn’t ever fully committed to arm wrestling since he started, he’s generally gone halfway since he juggles that, powerlifting, bodybuilding, etc. for his content. He has all of the potential in the world but has to focus his efforts on keeping his channel alive so he can’t fully commit unfortunately.
