My main takeaway from the film was that creation = destruction and vise versa. The motif of energy hammering home that nothing is ever truly lost or created, only changed. That and how we as humans, however bad or good we consider humanities "nature" to be - are part of that same universality. In other words my main takeaway is that, it would be with great hubris that we consider humanity to be "unnaturally bad" or "unnaturally good"... "unnaturally destructive" or "unnaturally creative"

I had a much different interpretation of the parakeets. They eat people and they think they are entitled to the Grand Uncle's world. They are a representation of the corporate vultures around every corner who would happily try and milk Miyazaki's work for every cent it's worth in the most soulless way possible. He puts up with them because he has to in order to get his work out, but he doesn't actually care about them.

Not out of malice, but as friendly suggestion - you'll be a lot more handsome with a better haircut.

I strongly disagree with the Malice section of the video. Your interpretation is flawed. Miyazaki is a mix of contradicting views. He may be a grump and pro nature, but he also has a strong message of "Live" to people. I believe nature and people can co-exist in harmony and that's one of the main conflicts and question he is exploring in his works and I never heard or saw him say "Humans should never be born in the first place". You are putting your words in his mouth and misinterpreting him. My interpretation of the whole section with warawara is this: the common myth is that storks are bringing children to parents. In this movie pelicans are opposite because they are symbol of something wrong with real real world like modern phenomenon of decline in birthrate in Japan and the world. One of the correlating factors for fewer children is high level of education. Pelicans force themselves and Mahito through gates above which is quote "all who seek my knowledge shall die". Metaphor~~~. You really think Miyazaki would think his grandson should never have been born and then he tries to make a movie with wisdom for him? There are other signs from Mahito and Himi that life worth living despite malice and suffering, etc. Nature and humans are not mutually exclusive things. Keep that anti-natalist garbage far away from Miyazaki-san. That what I wrote before watching the last section of the video where you elaborate further making counterpoints. But still malice section is wrong in my opinion.

Thank you very much. When you explained the first section about how the magical world represents all of Miyazaki's work and the granduncle represents Miyazaki himself, as he looks for a successor and that Mahito is us, I honestly teared up. Another section was about the theme that it's okay if Mahito don't want to take over. Because we choose how we want to live. These are something I somehow resonated with so much.

absolutely incrediblev video. I can feel the amount of time and energy it took to create this video, and I have to say that is has been masterfully done. I don't think any other person could come close to creating such an artistic piece, let alone review,, bravo. My biggest compliment is that this video feels like the show itself, in its presentation, (obv talking speed), absurdism, and climax. Really well done, and I was wishing it not to end. All the best and thanks for putting this out here in the world.

Thank you Meena ji. I am a silent viewer of your channel. You are doing a great job madam. This news force me to comment here,it’s sad to see everyone and everything is compromised. Now hundreds, thousands have become SSR, we are fighting against evil over good. Each one of us have become SSR. They can stop few thousand people but not common people, fight will continue until justice is served. Justice for SSR and Disha 🙏

Thanks for your wonderful analysis, it made me cry. In Ghibli Museum in Tokyo, there's a wall painting drew by Hayao Miyazaki, which depicts a ship which has many rooms for pigs, his assistants, producing anime, eating and resting. He left a message that "Making anime is like a journey on the sea". And the illustration exactly looks like A CAVE in The boy and the heron! So birds in the cave represent himself and his co-workers. They have a malice(They tried to kill Mahito), meaning they're also accomplices for Hayao Miyazaki's works.
