We are switching to Apologia science this year as well, I'm so excited. My daughter is doing land animals for 3rd, I plan on flying creatures for 4th. You'll have to let us know how you like it. We also love mind benders, so enjoyable! I'm definitely going to look in to fix it grammar, that would be a great addition for us.

Is this apologetics book the one you would suggest starting with or was there one that would be better for a second grader to begin with me reading aloud? Thanks so much and blessings!
@HomeschoolingonpurposeАй бұрын
I would wait until your kiddo is a little older for this specific apologetic book. But there is a wonderful resource called the Bible made easy for kids. That one may be a perfect fit along with answers for kids books by Ken Ham!

Hi friend. I was so excited to hear about Mama Bear Apologetics. I did hear one negative review for it , but I still purchased it recently. It's coming up for me as soon as I am done with my current books, but I was so glad to hear you loved it. Teaching my little girl apologetics is so important to me. Great recommendations. Sounds as though you incorporated several different “brands” within TGTB. I’m very new to H.S. Will be H.Sing a second grader. She loves to read and reads well. Also does really well with math however her writing skills need work. Would she be too young to do the one your 4th grader will be doing?
@Homeschoolingonpurpose2 ай бұрын
I believe IEW recommends they don’t begin their writing program until they are in the 4th grade. However, you know your child best and sometimes those labels don’t always apply. Every child is different. You can check the IEW website I believe there are samples so you can cross check that with her. Hope this helps!

The explode the code halves are just a continuation of the book before it. So it's extra practice of your child isn't ready for the next level. We have done level 1, 2, 3, and 4 and all the halves in between and that's what I have noticed from using them.

I do both All about Reading and Explode the Code. 🙂 Usually for Kindergarten my kids do AAR 1 and Get Ready for the Code A-C. We use Explode the Code as review since A-C would be a bit easier than than AAR1. I like to use it as independent work though and I have them do it at the same time they do handwriting. Once they finish C I have them go ahead and move into book 1. It's worked really well for us to help solidify the phonics!

You can make beautiful feet books curriculum a lot more affordable by buying the guide (I found mine cheaper on rainbow resource) and then buying the books second hand. We are doing the k-3 geography course. I have found some of the KZfaq videos they suggest to not seem to exist. A QR code would be nice. But overall it’s great. Advanced for age ranges suggested for sure. My geography loving 4th grader loves it!

Hi! With AAS, do you feel just following the teacher’s manual for instruction is enough? Or do you also utilize the new student activity book and cards (phonogram, rule, etc)? I am so interested in this program just for the explicit instruction but really want to keep it simple without all the rule cards and such. However, I am worried that because the program is designed to utilize those things it might not ‘stick’ without them.
@Homeschoolingonpurpose2 ай бұрын
For my son I have found the teachers manual is enough. Now I do utilize some of the other tools they send but we do not do any of the tiles we just spell them out either on our board or on paper when there is a new teaching. I do follow the repetitive parts in the instruction manual, but again we just omit the tiles. And it works wonderfully!

Any curriculum I have used has positives and negatives. Concerning math, I found many videos on youtube that explained a concept in a different way that might be better for my kiddos. The same goes for English concepts like the parts of speech, figurative language, grammar. etc.. The internet is such a blessing.
